Had the sip of sunshine at Vauaghns. 8 bucks for a snifter. It was good, but no better than 2 roads road to ruin (my favorite right now). They tasted very similar, and then I read that Lassans brews it at the 2 roads brewery. Hmmm

Picked up SoS and SS#2 this afternoon at one of my regular package stores. The SS was out front and the SoS was in the back. It's good, but I don't understand the hassle people go through to get it. I can think of a couple of IPAs that are just as good or better and are much easier to find.
Maybe it's just personal preference, but I find the big West Coast ones a notch better.

What time should I stop by?

Anytime. You know that. Although most of that order was of the " oh, you're playing in Burlington? can you bring me back....." from friends and family. I did keep a few.

I have a couple gigs up there with Melvin Seals at the end of next week.
This time I'm loading up for bear.
Pm me your order. Seriously.

Thanks very much. Will do.

I managed to find a 4-pack of Gandhi-Bot yesterday. I think this is the last run of cans for it under that name so I had to grab it for the collector's item.

I still like heady topper better than SoS.

Fuzzy baby ducks still rules CT as far as mania goes.

My friend who runs PST in New Haven tapped a sip of sunshine a week or so ago. He was expecting a run, and I came a few days later and it was still going on tap. He was shocked.

In the interim he got a FBD and it was dry in under 4 hours.

People are coming from all over when they hear that is tapped somewhere.

I went into my local package store a few weeks ago. He had 5 four packs of SOS. I asked what the limit was and said none. So I bought all five.

Agree with you on HT over SoS. I've still yet to try Focal Banger.

I can't deal with the FBD mania any more. When I happen upon it, I get it, but I'm not dealing with the madness to track it down. I grabbed Supernaut at the brewery last week and there was no line, which is just so funny to me because I think it's right there with FBD, but I love both Citra and Mosaic so it's a win-win for me. Their Fat 10-er #6 was also excellent--hoppy blonde ale with Nelson and Hallertau. Perfect for summer.

I was checking PST's FaceBook page when they had SoS and was surprised to see how long it lasted; same with Westbrook Lobster in Clinton, which had it for almost a week. Prime had it on last night but no happy hour pricing. I think a bit of the buzz is wearing off for it, especially the willingness to pay a premium for it given the increasing availability of other quality options. I mean, how in the world do you justify no happy hour pricing for SoS when you allow it for Maine Beer's Lunch?

If you ever see their Fat 10-er #23, it's a must buy. Terrific IPA that I think is better than Ghandi Bot.

I'm heading up to the very southern tip of Vermont in a few weeks for a bachelor party weekend, hoping I get lucky with local package stores (although I doubt I will). If it wasn't a bachelor party I'd make the drive an hour or two north to get some, but we're taking on car up and half of the people going don't really drink so I don't think I'll be able to swing it.

Focal Banger is incredible and blows Heady out of the water IMO especially if you like Citra and Mosaic. I wish it was distributed to stores but only bars and restaurants right now. Also Steady Habit in Haddam has their Method IPA on tap this weekend which is all Mosaic- its better than Supernaut and my personal favorite beer from them right now.

For something completely different that is refreshingly addictive in the summer heat (and only 2.5% ABV), look for this:

My dimwitted sister in law kept stammering through the name of this item and I lost interest in what she was trying to say. I want this. I do love the UFO Big Squeeze and now need to find this.

We first discovered it on tap at Westbrook Lobster in Clinton and then saw it again at the Sitting Duck in Stratford (interestingly, the bartender there recommended trying it over ice with vodka--haven't done that yet).

They sell it at Spirits of Madison (the place next to Stop & Shop) in six-packs of 11.2 oz. bottles. I'm on the lookout for the 4-pack of 16 oz. cans because the bottles disappear so quickly, and I imagine a can would get even colder, especially in a nice ice-filled cooler.

I picked up the UFO Big Squeeze for my wife a few weeks ago and she likes it well enough, but I like this much better.

Well scratch what I said then, because you might like 668 quite a bit given your preferences (it's a strong Belgian Blonde Ale). It sells like crazy for them, so obviously lots of people like it; just not my style. Funny, I'm not crazy about the styles Ommegang makes generally, but I recently tried their new IPA (Nirvana, I think?) and liked it a lot more than I expected to. It was not Belgian-style at all to my palate; tasted like a very good American IPA to me.

So I was in New Haven for 3 days last week on my way to Plum Island. Amity Wines and Liquors had nothing but the 668. Average at best for a Belgian--doesn't hold a candle to the Ommegangs. I liked Two Roads Li'l Heaven, not bad.

In Plum Island, I got to try Ipswich and Plum Island beer. Many different types, I liked all of them. Both are doing a good job. Allagash is quite cheap by the way if you buy it in Seabrook, NH.

Headed up this weekend for our annual family vaca in Kennebunkport, ME. End up spending a lot of time on the porch at Federal Jack's brew Pub on the river. Original home of the Shipyard Ales. They typically have 10-12 of their brews on tap. Maybe it's the location and the company, but their beer tastes better there than anywhere else. :)

Nice selection of regional stuff: Allagash, Sebago, MBC at the other joints in town.

The grapefruit is awesome stuff, and i normally don't like fruit beers.

Habanero is obviously very different, but i like the thought. I enjoyed it, but it wouldn't be a frequent enough buy for me.

Make sure you drink the Grapefruit Sculpin first; the Habanero Sculpin will ruin your tastebuds for anything else. I like them both, but I am definitely in the minority on the Habanero.

The Grapefruit Sculpin is a solid IPA with a hint of grapefruit. I know you're not a big IPA guy so you might not love it, as the Sculpin is definitely a typically bitter, citrusy West Coast IPA at its core.

The Schofferhofer Grapefruit Hefeweizen is 50/50 hefeweizen (i.e., wheat beer) and grapefruit-flavored juice and it pretty much tastes like a sparking grapefruit juice with a hint of wheat beer.

Why does Two Roads make Road Jam?

They make perfectly fine beers. Why ruin the variety pack?
