What is the tie breaker for BE regular season champion? Looking like we will have the same record as SJU. Hopefully not a jinx.

Its been mentioned in another thread but I feel like it deserves its own. We can also track who does what for this last week of games.

Are we rooting for Creighton and against Providence the rest of the way?

So, if both UConn and St John's win their remaining regular season games they would share the regular season title. However for seeding in the BE tournament if both teams finish at 18-2 then the tiebreakers start at by looking at what both teams have done against each other head to head and then what each teams have done against the teams in order of the standing. UConn and St John's are the same except for UConn splitting the season series against Creighton and St John's will have swept Creighton so St John's would be the 1 seed and UConn would be the 2 seed.

It comes down to Creighton and Providence. If Creighton finished ahead of Providence then UConn is the 1 seed. If Providence finishes ahead of Creighton then St. Johns is the 1 seed. So we are rooting for Creighton against Butler and we are rooting for Georgetown and Marquette against Providence. That's assuming we want the 1 seed. Would you rather face Villanova in the second round or Seton Hall?

Note: Since Providence beat Creighton twice, Creighton would need to have a better conference record that Providence. If they end up with identical records, St. John's is the 1 seed.
I think you have it backwards.

You have it the exact opposite.

1.2.1 TWO-TEAM TIE

1. Regular season head-to-head results. If the tied teams split their two games or did not play, then proceed toStep 2. If the teams play once, that still satisfies the series. In the event that the teams play more than twice, andthose games are considered conference games, all games will be considered.

2. Each team’s winning percentage vs. the team or tied (group of) teams occupying the highest position in the standings. Only common opponents will be considered. If an advantage is not determined, proceed to the next teamor group of tied teams in the standings for comparison. Continue down through the standings until one team gainsan advantage.

St. John's swept Creighton, we swept Providence. If Providence overtakes Creighton, we're the one seed. Otherwise it's St. John's.

I know the default is that we all want the 1 seed in the BET, but is it weird that I’d feel more confident against Nova than Seton Hall — and maybe even Providence or Creighton? However, Hall could fall to the 6, so there's lots to be determined still. I also feel like we're less likely to come out slow in a night game (2 seed) than @ noon (1 seed) in the Thursday quarterfinals lol.

And if Creighton and Providence end up tied???

Thanks. I see that now. I thought it would make sense to punish the team that lost to the lower seed, but instead they are rewarding the team that beat the higher seed twice. I suppose either way could make sense but thanks for straightening me out!

I don’t even care. Pitino built a team specifically to win the big east. Hurley builds teams for higher aspirations.

We might not know until 10:30pm Saturday after Providence game. Assuming UConn and St John’s win out, my understanding if Providence wins their last 2 we are the 1 seed.

And if Creighton and Providence end up tied???
PC swept the season series 2-0. They win any tie breaker.

This one is straight forward. Creighton has 1 game left, PC two. Creighton loses @Butler next weekend and PC wins one of last two, they jump up. PC wins last two, which are home against Marquette and at a undermanned Gtown, they jump no matter what.

I'd say odds are good.

And PC finishes the season Saturday at Georgetown. Georgetown beat them in Providence 81-78 on 1/24. Needing PC to win that game pretty much guarantees they lay an egg.

Technicality, but I believe Creighton/Butler is on Wednesday.

My guess is then it would be a coin flip?
Why are we guessing? If UConn and St John’s both win out and Creighton and Providence end up tied, the tie between UConn and St John’s would be broken by NET rankings (which would mean we would be the #1 seed).

And if Creighton and Providence end up tied???
You keep proceeding downward, and if it's still ends up in a tie, seating would be determined by a coin flip. (that's from memory, though)
