I was super irritable in the first half watching us go down by so much and I was very worried it could turn into a complete blowout. The game felt like the reverse of our Natty against Purdue in 2024. Tarris (like Edey) was getting his but everyone else was lacking.

That said I never turned the game off and I never gave up hope. When we got the lead down to single digits I still wasn’t thinking about winning. Rather I was happy we had fought back and made it respectable. It wasn’t until Solo’s breakaway and one did I think “Holy s@$! we could really do this” and then the spate of missed free throws ensued.

When Braylon’s shot went in I was screaming and then saw the notification that my one hour of viewing was expiring in a few minutes. Thank god we were able to finish the game in time. I queued up Varsity Sports broadcast just in case and listened to Crispino do the post game.

I’ve been on YouTube and this board ever since soaking it all in. I need to get back to my life at some point.

Scheyer did the same thing last night that he did vs Houston in the final 4 last year. Last 10 minutes of the Houston game every play went to Flagg. This year every play in the last 10 minutes went to Boozer. Even though Flagg and Boozer scored points, this stategy takes the rest of the players out of the game and they lose their energy, especially on defense. Our offense keeps everybody engaged.

Told me buddies that if we got within 10 at the 10 minute mark we would win because they would show their inexperience and fold. With 9:57 to go we were within 9.

@mikehoncho this a great thread btw. A good auxiliary one would be "how many times did you watch the replay?"

I am the fan who loves all UConn teams - I get upset if people call them “boring” or so called experts do not give them a chance. UConn basketball is always unique and they do have that “luck” metric that cannot be measured.

During MSU game - I was screaming when they were up 19 and got sloppy … cause they should have held on to that large lead.

Against Duke, I knew it was going to be rough and I remained extremely calm … until 3 uncalled fouls I.e. Cameron with the obvious charge / no call / 2 pt bucket. And two fouls not called against our driving guards missing easy buckets.

When I think it was Reibe who’s elbow crushed Boozer - trying to remember if it was Reibe - I knew they had fight and would chip chip chip and please just give us a chance.

When Karaban hit the 3 to pull us to 69 - 70 - that’s when I was got nervous / sick / and crazy. Pretty sure I blacked out screaming to God for that shot to go in.

Didn’t give up!

Somewhere in the Chat transcript, when down 19, there is a Dove post that said, "Watch, we'll get this down to a two possession game within last minute."

We've seen it too many times.

I thought that the 15 point deficit at half, considering how poorly they were shooting, wasn’t a worst case scenario.

But didn’t think they could make that type of comeback
Agree with the first part of this completely. But that's what gave me a little hope that we had a chance.

I remember someone saying that. Good call

I was totally frustrated. I started to see the pattern. The refs calling fouls on our guys. The poor shooting. Down by 20.

I knew UConn had a run coming in the second half, but I wasn't sure it would be enough.

When the guys were missing foul shots, I got even more frustrated.

Nobody, I don't care how much of a fan you are saw that coming.

The end unfolded like a movie, like I was watching Hoosiers . It was amazing because when Silas missed the free throw down by three, I just figured there's no way, but he hits the second

I figured well, at least they made it close, 10 seconds left, down by two.

What unfolded was just pure UConn Mojo that appeared. Unscripted, magical, a wonderful turn of events.

When Mullins hit the shot I screamed. I couldn't believe it. The rest of the day went by, and I just was numb. As a sports fan, I have never ever felt or experienced anything like what happened yesterday.

It was a pure fantasy fairytale moment.

Never a doubt. I posted at halftime (on Storrs Central) that we just needed to win every segment between media timeouts by 4 and we'd win the game. Wasn't quite as smooth as I made it sound though

I still had the faith at that point knowing we could not make a 3. I kept telling myself, and also posted in the message chat, that we still got a chance if we can make some 3s and get some stops.

The ending was just insane.

I actually think you said get it to 5 points, but same thing

When you wrote that Taco Bell was your "only fitting option," I couldn't help but wonder what the rejected options were.
It matched my disgust. That was it. I am also in Geneseo, NY for work, not much around here. I needed something quick so I could get back to the solace of my hotel room to watch the game.

Wow. You’ve come a long way from betting on Duke to beat us.

I was at the game. At halftime I was regretting spending all that money on 4 tickets. I was tired of the mocking from the Duke fan in front of us. I was hoping we could have a respectable showing in the 2nd half so this wouldn't be a blowout.

As the 2nd half progressed, I felt better about how we were playing, but was concerned we'd exhaust ourselves just getting back into the game and not have enough to get over the hump. But the team persevered, the UConn fans had a lot more to cheer about (and were louder than the Duke fans who outnumbered us), and that unbelievable ending left Duke fans stunned and silent, UConn fans in pandemonium.

I watched at my local bar in the same seat with the same people as the Michigan State game. My CT UConn buddy next to me and our Chicago Duke fan buddy closest to the TV making little comments like "that's Duke basketball."

First half we thought it was just one of those nights where we can't shoot and Duke's size/length was probably too much for us and we said it was cool for the bartender turn the sound off. We agreed 15 points at half wasn't a huge deal and the sound would go back on once we got it to 10. Uconn was chipping away and we started to believe we had a real chance...

Another friend was playing darts next to us and she was flailing her arm and our Duke fan buddy said, "Hey how about a little dart tip" in his Chicago accent as he showed her how to properly shoot darts. We proceeded to say "How about a little dart tip" every good play by us and every turnover by Duke in mocking fashion. This became our Mojo.

We were now down 10 so the sound was back on. The dart player was no longer allowed to move and watched from where she was standing. We said to each other we're winning this game and now everyone else was joining in saying "dart tip" every time UConn got closer. When the final play unfolded it happened so quickly but it felt like it was in slow motion and when the ball ripped the net the whole bar was screaming some form of "holy farking s^^t" and we short circuited yelling dart tip non stop for the next couple of minutes.

You find the mojo wherever you can.

Yes, I kept the faith and I said as much in the chat.

I saw UConn missing open 3s and Duke making contested 3s, and I saw Reed matching Boozer.

I thought tighter defense, making more 3s would get UConn back in the game.

I didn't know they would continue to miss 3s until 5 minutes left in the game.

My only point of desperation was in changing to my dirty yardwork jeans that I wore for the previous 2 games.

We allowed MSU to come back and we were up 19 at one point. For that reason I texted a friend at half and said I wasn’t giving up.

We were shooting so poorly that I felt some would have to start falling eventually. The two Mullins mid range jumpers, the two Demry threes. Reed and Karaban just knowing where each other were at seemingly all times.

It all seemed to sync so much better in the 2nd half. What scared me the most was any momentum we had, Duke always had an answer. The freshman on Duke (#14) had maybe three or four baskets that seemed to kill any answer we seemed to have. I kept yelling we need defensive stops. We couldn’t just trade baskets. The defense really stepped up when we needed it.

I’ll admit I was screaming for Mullins/AK to call a timeout one that last possession. Thankfully they didn’t listen.

I had faith we could do. I didn't have faith we would do it. I did have hope that never went out.

Duke was getting everything they wanted and more. Tarris was the only thing we had going, and he picked up his 2nd. So.... did you keep the faith?
I was kind of choice #5. I saw we were down 19 and knew it did not look good but when we cut it to 15 when it couldve been 20 or more i felt we had a chance if we could get some 3s to fall. My optimism is a bit silly but i feel like if the lead is less than the amount of time left you have a chance.

You must make a killing on FanDuel.

Taco Bell has turned a corner. Don't snicker.
