Apologies if this was posted before, but I looked back and didn't see it mentioned... if it was covered already, feel free to delete/ignore.

Anyway, today one of our Pgh media bloggers posted this Jan 7th article from WSJ about values of BCS teams if they were bought and sold like NFL teams. And UConn was ranked highest in value of all (current) BE teams, and ahead of teams like NC, Miss St., Maryland, Baylor, Missouri and a few others.

I find that a bit surprising, if not outright shocking. But I suppose it's good news for future CR discussion.

I suppose if the SEC is buying Missouri and the Big 10 is buying Maryland the formula might be a bit flawed.

Doesn't shock me. We have a great potential as a market.

I don't understand how he figured these things....he has NC State worth $43M more than UNC and Clemson worth $5M more than USC and about $40M more than Florida State.

My guess is that he's a crackpot.

Considering the list is FOOTBALL ONLY, I would expect UConn to jump many spots up the list when basketball is included.

We spend a lot of time talking about markets and valuations and subscribers and the like. And while the B1G may have given that significant weight during their last move, it's pretty obvious there are plenty of higher ups making decisions based upon regional asociations, grudges and whatever they think might give their school a competitive advantage. Were FSU, BC and Cuse giving one thought about what would be best for the ACC when they snubbed UConn? Heck no! They couldn't care less about what Louisville brought to the league.

The good news is I think FB and Hoops are looking strong for the near future. So despite the awkward setup we really do have a chance at winning seasons and league titles. That's good enough until the rest shakes out.

Uh-oh. Another article that shows UConn is worth more than Syracuse, it must be flawed according to our Canadian friends.
