Wait, so RU has the highest rated ESPN game in the NYC market of all time...and 4 out of the 5 highest rated games ever in the NYC market. On ESPN2 RU played in all 5 of the top 5 rated ESPN2 games in the NYC market of all time.

So if NJ doesn't care about Rutgers and never has, as you claim...does that mean that it's people in NYC watching these games and garnering the high ratings?

Or does it just mean that you're clueless....and mad at RU for going to the Big Ten in front of UCONN?

Based on averaging over 5o,000 people last year at our 7 home games....and easily getting the best ratings of any college in the NYC market (which includes nearly two-thirds of the state of NJ) ....Sounds like RU excites NJ just fine.
Jersey loves a winner, but they are fickle. If RU produces, they'll get viewers based upon the sheer density of population in North Jersey, but they drop like a rock when they suck.

It hasn't been said yet in this thread, so-

BC sucks.

Nobody said BC sucks??? This is like the 28th post on a thread labeled "BC" and only CTMike has said that BC sucks? It's almost as if people around here are questioning if BC sucks, but they shouldn't....because BC sucks. It's been proven experimentally that BC sucks. We've had our men's basketball team beat them like 23 straight times to prove they suck. Hell, Army football just beat them this past year, further proving they suck. BC sucks. It's really that simple....

...BC sucks...

BC has been Div-1 in football a lot longer than UConn. They have history(Flutie). UConn does not. Their basketball sucks and that brings UConn back into the conversation but still....UConn needs to go on a tremendous win streak and put a couple Pro Bowl athletes into the NFL for us to be ever considered for the B1G. And that takes time(5 years minimum) so don't be disappointed if we get passed up again the next time D-1 does the conference shuffle. Best bet for UConn, dominate and promote the new league, win bowl games, put players in the NFL, support the program, quit burning bridges we might need to use later(Bluementhal).

I heard when Dan O stepped out of the end zone for a safety it cost us a B1G invite. Trying to confirm with contact at the Courant.

For gods sake you knuckleheads. BC is in BOSTON! it's not the fine athletics they want. Their rich Boston alumni are there. The tv sets do not neeed to be watching BC they just want BIG network on the cable packages. They could care less about quality of athletics. Does the high quality of Purdue,Northwestern,Indiana,Illionois,Iowa matter? No! Rutgers and Maryland? No! It has nothing to do with wins on the field or players in the pros. And yes BC is a carrot for Notre Dame.

BC a carrot for ND? So let me get this straight...........the Big 10 adds BC and that convinces ND to flee its independence, flexibility, and power, drop everything and now join the conference they have been saying no to for years? Come on guys, this is a joke. As long as ND can still play its way into the national championship game without full affiliation to any conference, it will remain that way.

Yea...adding BC would have zero impact on ND. ND doesn't really care about BC all that much. Sure they have the catholic rivalry in football but they aren't going to change their independent status just because B1G adds BC.

What I have said is that the only way BC is invited to the B1G is in a pair with ND, and because ND asked for them. As a private school with less than one-third the enrollment and alumni base of UConn and no non-alum fans which UConn like other state schools, BC is not all that attractive in media terms. UConn brings CT plus pieces of NYC and NE, which is a comparable cable subscriber base to metro Boston. UConn can expand its stadium, BC cannot. UConn can become an AAU school, BC cannot. UConn has far more potential as an athletic program. There is really no contest, unless ND decides to look out for its fellow Catholic school.

Why in God's name would ND give a crap about BC? BC would come to ND anytime on their knees looking to play a game. They offer ND nothing.

Just remember, rodeo is more popular in Boston than BC football.

HFD what are you hearing on expansion news re: B1G, BC and UConn?

Seems like every message board I go to doesn't even mention UConn in any realignment scenario where as Cinci, USF, San Diego State and hell, even Tulane I've seen mentioned as candidates for this supposed Big12/ACC alliance.

Any thoughts?

No mention... But process of elimination.

>>"The Big 12 pointed out in its closed-door, four-hour meeting at the Four Seasons Las Colinas that the Big Ten, should it expand, would likely push for schools already included in the Association of American Universities – in the ACC, that list includes Virginia, UNC, Pitt, Georgia Tech and Duke.

The conference also explained the SEC, should it expand, would likely gravitate toward schools from states where it doesn't have a presence – in the ACC, that includes schools in Virginia (UVA, Virginia Tech) or North Carolina (UNC, Duke, N.C. State, Wake Forest).

Based on that information, the conference identified teams that would be left, including reputable football schools Florida State, Clemson and Louisville."<<
