And the media is acting like it's game over for next year? An unstoppable Kentucky empire? C'mon.

Not saying we'd beat them next year. Have to see what Purvis and Hamilton can do with the lights on before we make any bold predictions. But the Harrison twins coming back isn't exactly a death sentence for the rest of college basketball. Among guards in the national championship game, they were a distant third and fourth (fifth if you want to call Young a guard).

I thought of our guards as pitbulls. After the title of this thread, I'm now thinking sharks.:D

The media loves the squid and UK. I don't get it.........

Lol! Yeah i found it funny how the media still continues to suck the sack. "unstoppable empire? Really? 1 national title in 6 years including 1 where they missed the tournament? If thats an unstoppable empire wtf does that make us? Thats pretty laughable. The twins seem like good kids and they have talent. Problem is neither one is a true pg and they both dribble too high and will continue to have trouble with smaller quicker guards. The minute they run into a team that takes the twins out of the game like we did theyll be going home.

even with Cauley-Stein out our frontcourt was at a serious disadvantage in size, rebounding and scoring but buy taking out the guards it disrupted that advantage because the twins couldnt get the ball into the post when guys had position which threw the offense off. Cut off the head and the body dies. Why do you think we won in 1999? Ricky Moore shut down opposing pgs and it was game over. I hope we end up facing off in the tourney next year because ill take Boat,Tsam,Purv and Cassell all day vs the twins and the freshmen.

We had the "perfect storm" of sorts with Boat's defense jumping up several levels, with Niels playing such tough interior defense, and Nolan improving so much in his denying the passes into the post. Add that to having THE best player and DD finding his confidence, pretty amazing confluence of developments. That kind of mental toughness and defensive focus will probably take some time to develop for our guys to be a real contender next year. For me, Boatright's ability to be a positive leader will be a big factor as well as Brimah really improving his ability to play without fouling. It would be very nice if Nolan can develop more of a back to the basket type offensive game (as well as Brimah). Also if Tsam can come in and be a defensive stopper would be awesome.

We may not have the McD's up and down the lineup like UK, but it should be a fun year and hopefully our new guys can come in and learn fast on the defensive end. If the Rock could play decent to good position defense and block out and rebound, he could be a contributor. I have no idea if he is ready for that kind of role, but it would be very nice to not be so vulnerable to getting knocked around in the paint.

Their two best offensive players by far we're Young and Randle. It's not like they haven't lost anything. Let's see how their new band of mercenaries look before we give them the crown.

Their offense ran through Young and Randle. Every possession started and ended with those 2 guys. I really dont find them as scary good as everyone else says. Randle and Young were very very good players, and i dont think their new recruits can replace them

If I were Coach Cal, I would recruit one-and-dones at every position except PG. I would take players who need 2-3 years at the PG spot so I would have experienced floor leadership and a succession. It would also make teaching a bunch of freshman easier when you have some guys who know the ropes.

Not only did Bazz and Boat win a national championship, but they knocked two mcdonalds all-americans out of the second round and back to college. not many people can say that.
