If they don't call a foul, Napier's buzzer beater ties the game instead of wins it. Then we go to overtime with momentum on our side and no point guard on the floor for Florida. Still like our chances.
In real time, it looked like a foul.
In slow-mo, he does jump forward a BIT, and he did land on the UF player's foot, but probably not a foul. You have to let a guy land from where he took off, but Bazz land a few inches ahead of where he took off from.
With all the phantom calls that went against us inside, I'll take it.
What pissed me off was on last night's Sportscenter, Scott Van Pelt said of Napier's 4-pt play: "That's not a foul, he just fell down". UHHHH, no. He landed on the dude's foot. He didn't just fall.
Scott Van Pelt also said of Napier's game winner: 'Double dribble? Maybe... it goes uncalled'. I slowed that down and not only does Bazz move the the ball and have it hit into a UF player's leg, it got tipped by a UF player as well. No double-dribble.
I love Scott Van Pelt, but he was a big UConn downer on sportscenter last night calling the highlights when I was excited to see them after I got home from the game.

Wow, that's a real buzzkill. This is a game of national significance that should elevate our program's profile at least this year (and may help for beyond), and the major media outlet, the primary conduit to fans, is downplaying and questioning the validity of it.
Bazz had 3 fouls. Finney-Smith had 4. They basically played 6 players, 1 was injured and a second had 4 fouls. In addition Frazier had played 39 minutes and Prather 37. Considering our performance in overtime last year, I would have liked our chances. But the foul was called, the shot was made and it went into the book like several questionable calls and non calls on the other side of the ledger as well.We only had Amida at center. TO and Nolan were fouled out. Bazz had 4 fouls as well. I wouldnt say we had momentum if it went to OT.
upstater said:Scott Van Pelt has always hated UConn because of he loves Maryland and Gary Williams.
Donovan quote " it was not a foul". Bazz goes straight up on his jumpshots and usually falls backward. If he lands on a florida player's foot who has moved into his landing spot and falls to the floor how is that not a foul?
ESPN being ESPN
just remember, most of these guys are transients who moved here from elsewhere and are fans of other schools
they live among UConn fans, have to deal with the fact that UConn is better than their school, and I believe that deep down inside they despise us
throw in their hate for JC, and you have the perfect storm
has anyone ever heard any national broadcaster on any network ever say any other program is "falling apart at the seams"? (1 yr before we won the NC BTW) or how about telling some kid over the air that he should "reconsider his commitment"?
did Scott mention anything about BS calls that went against us? I doubt it, they are what they are, jackwagons and haters
What recruit was that said to and by whom?

I'm always amazed that posts like this happen. Van Pelt practically blew Kemba every time he talked about him. This so-and-so "hates" UConn stuff is so childish.
You're right about the offensive foul and we all knew it even though Bazz acted like he didn't, but a player has a right to land after a jump shot. Different story on a drive to the hoop. For Donovan it is heat of the moment stuff after a very tough loss. hard to bite your tongue. We can go through the tape and find 20 questionable calls on any given night and the funny thing is they can all change the outcome and be as important as the last play. As far as sportscasters hating us and not giving our due and dredging up the past, IMO there is still a bunch of that out there, but it also seems that they like KO and his whole NBA theme which comes up ten times a game so that is what we are going to hear all year and maybe forever, how many coaches he played for.....Wow Donavan said his player didn't foul Bazz! Reminds me of the Boneyard threads that said Bazz didn't foul on that offensive charge call.
We want it both ways or only our way. I understand.
