  • Nov. 9 (Sat.) GRAMBLING
  • Nov. 14 (Thu.) NICHOLLS STATE
  • Nov. 18 (Mon.) RICE
  • Nov. 21 (Thu.) #UTSA/Northwestern State; Baylor/Savannah State
  • Nov. 22 (Fri.) #Savannah State/UTSA; Baylor/Northwestern State
  • Nov. 23 (Sat.) #Northwestern State/Savannah State; Baylor/UTSA
  • Dec. 3 (Tue.) SAN JOSE STATE
  • Dec. 6 (Fri.) vs. Kentucky (DH) Arlington
  • Dec. 15 (Sun.) HOUSTON BAPTIST
  • Dec. 18 (Wed.) MISSISSIPPI
  • Dec. 28 (Sat.) MCNEESE STATE
  • Jan. 13 (Mon.) CONNECTICUT
So we're talking one non-conference game away from Waco and it'll be in Arlington TX. Weak.

How daring on their part; big difference from Geno's approach, eh.

Interesting. Given how weak the Big 12 should be next year, Baylor could find themselves ranked in the top 5-10 by the end of the season, even tho they are probably a top 15-20 team at best. Smart, in a way. It will keep Baylor in the "national spotlight" in spite of losing Griner et al...

"Weak" is definitely a word that comes to mind looking at that schedule. I suppose Kim planned for the "everybody-except-Odyssey-just-graduated" year.

I agree. However, with the regular season schedule and 3 or 4 losses, they'll be only a 3 or 4 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Their ranking will be inflated by beating up everyone other than Kentucky and Uconn.

Really weak.

I've put in brackets last year's RPI ranking for each school and that definitely demonstrates how weak Baylor's OOC schedule is. Even with their losses due to graduation, Kim should be ashamed. Unfortunately what Kim has done this year is not uncommon in Basketball. Too many teams have weak OOC Schedule in an effort to get 20-25 wins a year.

  • [ ]Nov. 9 (Sat.) GRAMBLING RPI (308)
    [ ]Nov. 14 (Thu.) NICHOLLS STATE (156)
    [ ]Nov. 18 (Mon.) RICE (130)
    [ ]Nov. 21 (Thu.) #UTSA/Northwestern State; Baylor/Savannah State (243)
    [ ]Nov. 22 (Fri.) #Savannah State/UTSA; Baylor/Northwestern State (330)
    [ ]Nov. 23 (Sat.) #Northwestern State/Savannah State; Baylor/UTSA (291)
[ ]Dec. 3 (Tue.) SAN JOSE STATE (281)
[ ]Dec. 6 (Fri.) vs. Kentucky (DH) Arlington (8)
[ ]Dec. 15 (Sun.) HOUSTON BAPTIST (344) There's only 345 in RPI rankings
    [ ]Dec. 18 (Wed.) MISSISSIPPI (244)
    [ ]Dec. 28 (Sat.) MCNEESE STATE (153)
    [ ]Jan. 13 (Mon.) CONNECTICUT (4)

Kim is smarter than I thought. Way to avoid those losses and keep the record looking good! Maybe there will be a major Texas blizzard on January 13 the causes the UCONN game to be cancelled.

This schedule is an embarrassment!

That's astounding, when your third best non-conference game is against a team ranked at 130 last year. And the only "away" game is in Texas. Just wow.

You can't get quality wins without quality opponents. Baylor is going to need either an upset vs Kentucky or a strong performance against the big12.

But the Big 12 is fairly weak this year, no? Oklahoma and Texas should be good - I think OK beats Baylor, but Texas? Who else in that conference will be any good? I'm sure Baylor will have a few WTF losses - when you lose as much as they did, it has to be expected. Going to be wild to see how they do and how the rankings pan out...

In reality, the worst part about that schedule is how it will affect NCAA seeding. It is ok to schedule a few cream-puffs, better if you are careful in your selection of which cream-puffs you schedule.

Houston Baptist???? They were recently involved in a battle of the unvictorious, IIRC - well into the season, and that may have been their only victory.

No fear of Baylor's taste for creampuffs this year, KnightBridgeAZ. Savannah State has owned several WCBB records for utter self-destruction in WCBB.

meh? Try pathetic. Frankly an embarrassment to the University. If I am the AD and unaware of this I call her in and say: "WTF!"

I wonder if she had troubling getting people to play her...

But I think she cancelled the series with Tennessee, if I recall. So there goes that theory.

I think in the abstract that Rice and UTSA are somewhere in that general range (i.e. they are competitive for mid-majors, but not with the big boys) - not sure about SDS. The rest are extremely bleh.
