Baylor Full-Court Pressure Up One w/9 Seconds Left...why?

I realize it was sheer chaos at the end of the game, but neither announcer mentioned that there was no need for Baylor to full-court press (with someone on the ball!) on the last possession. This basically left Griner playing defense 35 feet from the basket.

Seth Greenberg on the men's side did question why they decided to press.

Press at end = excellent call
Execution of press = failure

The press in that spot has to be used to slow down the ball, forcing a much tougher shot. Baylor was completely out of position to slow the ball down.

This is one of the things that hurts the dominant women's teams. The top teams might only play one or two games a year where they are forced to execute end of game situations. UConn/ND are lucky enough to play each other a bazillion times every season. They are much more comfortable in those situations. Unfortunately, ND has been more comfortable than us the last couple years.
