Baylor confirms two women’s basketball staff members no longer with program
Baylor confirmed the staff members were Kianna Ray and Sadie Edwards.
And Kianna Ray, an all-Big 12 performer at TCU when they were briefly a good team under Pebley. And yes that's the Sadie Edwards who started at UConn but transferred after 1 semester
You have to wonder if there are recruiting violations that are being reported to the NCAA. To be clear, I have absolutely no information on this. I am just speculating as to why two staff members would be fired midseason. Both coaches were specialized in recruiting. Next years class has only one player. She is very decent but not super star caliber. Almost smells like a rat. The staff will be forced to nab 3 -4 out of the portal to have a team next year.
Given that it's Baylor, my mind went in a completely different direction. You have to wonder if there are recruiting violations that are being reported to the NCAA. To be clear, I have absolutely no information on this. I am just speculating as to why two staff members would be fired midseason.
Recruiting violation?Doesn’t make sense if it is only a recruiting issue, and 2 assistants are abruptly fired early season. In the vernacular, “something ain’t right”!
Collens has her work cut out for her. It’s one thing to have a nice year vs sustaining success.. if you want to sustain it you’ll have to continue to be steady bringing in quality playersThe Baylor WBB program cannot stand any issues at this point. No more mulligans. This next recruiting cycle is very critical to any chance of Baylor WBB's future success. Baylor must have a top 20 recruiting class ( very unlikely) and at least two transfers need to be pulled in via the portal. They are losing too many key players and their depth going forward is on thin ice.
The portal looms large these days and Collen has done fairly well there, bringing in players like D. Edwards, Walker and Vonleh. Baylor doesn't look like a NC contender as they did under Mulkey, but they don't seem to be falling off the cliff in Collen's year 4 either. More like a 2nd round or Sweet 16 level of team.Collens has her work cut out for her. Should you put the disclaimer that you are also “President of the Nicki Collen Fan Club”so any comments could be biased? The portal looms large these days and Collen has done fairly well there, bringing in players like D. Portal is always gonna be active and heavy in this current climate of athletics but with fifth years stopping after this season the trimmings are gonna be smaller to choose from. The portal looms large these days and Collen has done fairly well there, bringing in players like D. Yelp. Right there with you.Given that it's Baylor, my mind went in a completely different direction.

Yeah, me too. I was thinking something along the lines of the two coaches quietly married each other, Baylor found out and demanded that Collen fire them.Given that it's Baylor, my mind went in a completely different direction.
Be careful, you might say that thing that you're not allowed to say here.Yeah, me too. I was thinking something along the lines of the two coaches quietly married each other,
Wow! This photo is BAD. I mean, this is death for recruiting if you bring high school kids in for a visit and your arena is crickets during games. Here’s a pic I took a few weeks ago at a game here in Waco. As you can see the interest in the program is nowhere close to what it used to be. View attachment 105486
Fans are nice. Money is nicer.Wow! This photo is BAD. I mean, this is death for recruiting if you bring high school kids in for a visit and your arena is crickets during games.
Never seemed to hurt USC. Crowds are better since they've had Juju, but they've been bringing in McD's AA players routinely for years with some of the worst attendance for a P5/P4 school.Wow! Yup. But fans practically are money in the NIL era.Fans are nice. Money is nicer.
