It doesn't shock me, and it won't shock me when other schools are accused of the same thing. There were a lot of rumors about Jabari Brown and Khem Birch, esp. when both were rumored to be heading to Missouri (though only Brown ended up there). Of course some claimed UConn did the same thing with Nelson. He's the only transfer I can remember to come to UConn.

Is it any wonder how Baylor went from an after-thougtht in every sport to having a Top 25 football team with a Heisman winner and a top basketball program getting elite players? The truth will come out eventually.

Is that just as bad or worse than stalking a recruit at his barber shop after he committed to another school?:)

i love lurking on the wvu board and as always links and talk make me go elsewhere following things. for a couple years now its almost a 100% agreement by fans of most b12 schools and others down south that baylor is the most dirty program in the country(all sports). i have seen that talked about a lot of times. the chat started years ago about things and people joked in posts about how they get nothing out of it yet are so illegal in everything they do. it was a big joke for a while. then the past 2 years that program has exploded on the scene and ppl are now seeing the benefits of the dirty play on recruit trails. now ppl are just in shock of what has been built there and can only think how big they will get in time. they are building a nice stadium now among other things, that school wont go away any time soon.

tenn and pearl are a whole diff story. pearl is a character first off. but tenn is just thugville. there was a stretch of probelms that u couldn't make up down there. kids were just runnign wild with crap. tenn is that dirty south school that even when they take anyone in to try to get there programs baclk to the top they can't. tenn has sent out more fball offers for the 13 class this year then uconn cuse and bc have combined probally. tenn is just a mess.

I think everyone missed where UMass was mentioned.

BTW, if that story is true, said recruit was unsigned. So is there a difference ethically, perhaps not. Is there an actual difference in the technical NCAA law, yes, there is. If that story is true, it was a good thing for SJU anyway (considering how that player turned out at UConn and UMass*)

*Hey UMass did get mentioned.

I suppose this is another Clothy underdig at something UConn supposedly did. But, what specific case are you talking about Clothy???

The SJU rumor is that to get Doug Wiggins, UConn assistants let him know through his barber they were interested, though I think some fans go further to say the assistants went to the barber and waited for Wiggins to show up and then have a chance meeting. Stupid rumor.

Well, leave it to Clothy to dig up a 6-7 year old unsubstantiated rumor that's unfavorable towards UConn.
It's amazing, at this time last year, when we were going through our championship run we didn't hear anything from him from March '11 until October '11 when he reminded us of a scenario that JC ducked Holy Cross responding to a Calhoun "we'll play anyone" thread.
Now that we've had a mediocre season, and UMass is an NIT team having arguably their best season in 15 years, we can't get rid of him.

....all the while the real story about Wiggins was reported by the CT press and how the EH coach first contacted UCONN and then showed up at a UCONN practice with Wiggins and some of his teamates.

You are on to something there. Check this list out and see who is numero uno:

That was one screwed up situation a few years ago. You would have thought they would have learned.

They have a dude playing for their women's basketball team.

Doesn't get much dirtier than that.

they would never discuss this on the women's board and it would get deleted almost immediately, but there were rumors going around that Griner wouldn't ever try out for any of the US Basketball teams because she was like that South African distance runner - and maybe wasn't a woman at all. i think that's pretty much been nixed, but there were so many rumors about it, it does make you wonder if lots of people were just cruel, or if there was some truth to it.

I did hear Griner in a recent interview. She does have a masculine voice.

Oh, wow, Clothy, you really showed us with that comment!!!
Ask 99% of the teams in the NCAA as to what scenario they would take and it would be an appearance in the NCAA's over a 3rd round game in the NIT.
Plus, Bruiser is a waitin' you guys. Morning line favors Bruiser by 6.5 over you guys.

Most bubble teams that go on to the NIT are out to prove they belonged in the NCAAs by going deep or winning the NIT. Your comment may have some merit but I think most would rather win the NIT than get dominated and embarrased by a lower seed to the point where people are questioning whether you belonged. Frankly, I don't care if we are 10 point dogs tonight. We haven't been favored since the first round of the A-10 tournament. I think the guys are playing the underdog role well.

Knock it all you want! We're having fun with this and not worrying about any bans or who is leaving next year.

And the Wiggins story that was printed in CT was not the story he told the Umass staff when he wanted to come here. But he is a troubled kid so who knows.

The bottom line regarding this thread, is that you really are not in a position to be finger pointing. To outsiders, it looks like you're trying to deflect attention away from your program.

Finger pointing Clothy!!! The only finger pointing I'm doing is at you. You interrupt a thread that has nothing to do with UMass with a very unsubstantiated rumor about UConn's recruitmant of Wiggins. As a result, someone rips UMass. And, your thinned skinned approach is to try to taunt us because UMass is still playing in the NIT.
My supposed attention deflection is really a truthful feeling regarding where most programs would prefer to be. UConn fans remember that feeling in 1986 when we won the NIT. It launched our program. But, with 3 NC's including last years, your taunting us, because your still playing, has little meaning to UConn fans.
If you win the NIT, and it springboards your program over the next 3-4 years we might take you seriously. But, what UConn has done over the past 15 years as opposed to UMass resume during the same stretch, you have little to hang your hat on.
I was rooting for your team vs Seton Hall, as I mentioned last week. But, with your ridiculous posts trying to make UConn look bad on a UConn board, I say goooo Bruiser!!!
BTW, if the UConn staff wanted Wiggins that bad, all they needed to do was call him, or his coach. He was only verbally committed to St John's. UConn could've talked directly to him, and not his barber. For you to bring that up here only invites UConn fans to rip you and UMass. And, justifyably so.

Trying to make Uconn look bad? I was responding to rediculously arrogant taunts about Umass not playing basketball anymore. Okay, Scott Drew and Bruce Pearl are the devil, Uconn never did anything wrong and we will clearly perish tonight without Yonick's support.

I think clothy/clothfrog/frogcloth/froggycloth/clothyfrog is the only UMess basketball fan left.

They haven't won a game in the tournament in 16 years. Yikes.

It really is an absurdly different scenario.

On one hand you have an unsigned, verbally committed recruit who may have been contacted through his barber to let him know UConn was interested. For that matter, SJU was saved from having Wiggins on campus. If you think he caused trouble at UConn/UMass can you imagine what he would have done in NYC? Throw in the fact the last TWO BE freshmen of the year were UConn verbals (with one going to SJU) really makes this a silly comment.

On the other hand you have a player on a D1 scholarship to another school being called by head coaches of other D1 programs expressing their interest he leave the school he is on scholarship for and come play for them.
