Battle for the east seed

Hard to predict what's going to happen with Florida and Alabama, if they come back into the picture at all. But if they don't...

I'd expect UConn in the EAST, Michigan in the MIDWEST, Arizona is WEST, and Duke is SOUTH.

Like UConn, Duke is playing watered down competition in the conference.

Only thing that would give me pause is that the EAST regional is in DC (so closer to Duke) while the SOUTH regional is all the way in Houston.

Whatever happens, UConn starts in Buffalo.

Philly is closer?

Since we do not play Duke it depends on who trips up first. Our loss to AZ moved us down to 2 seed so we need Duke to lose

Do you think Iowa State will stay ahead of UConn? More likely the four 1 seeds are Arizona, Michigan, Duke and UConn. We don't need Duke to lose to get a 1 seed.

Selfishly, I just really want the east so I can go to the games in Philly. But there’s a good chance Duke finishes ahead of us and ends up in the east.

If UConn is a top 4 seed they will be in Philadelphia no matter what region they are placed in. The East Regional semifinals and final is in Washington, DC which isn't far from Philadelphia so if they are in the east you get that bonus.

How/why no one is considering Gonzaga in this convo is nuts. They are very likely to have one loss this year, talk about garbage conferences and that loss will be to Michigan

Michigan, Iowa State, Arizona, Purdue will all take a couple of Ls during their conference seasons

we will be rooting hard for Michigan to put a beating on Duke in February, essentially evening up the OOC slates between us and Duke

Prediction:
Zags (W), Duke (S), UCONN (E), Michigan (MW)
Zona (W), Houston (S), MSU (E), Iowa State (MW)

We need the to lose to get the East 1 seed though.

Hate watching Duke is my second favorite thing to watching UConn. Added incentive
Love watching Duke in person for the opportunity to savor their defeat. Got to see them lost to the Wolfpack a couple years ago in Dallas and next to seeing UConn win seeing Duke lose is a close second.

That game was so fun. Also the final four game last year against Houston had my wife and I doing laps around the house, and she doesn’t even like sports lmao… just hates Duke too

Duke has 7 remaining games against ranked opponents as of now. The odds of them going 7-0 in those is slim. Any slip up opens the door for UConn to take the 1 seed in the East. Of course, we need to handle our own business in the BE.

Bring the boys to Buffalo and I’ll have a serious dilemma.

Went in 04, we won. Was afraid to see them lose in 14, so I didn’t go. We won. Went in 22 and we got upset.

Conference play just started or hasn't started yet for teams. All of this is so dumb.
Agreed. Nobody is going to lose less than 2 games and probably 3 games in the Big XII or Big Ten. Duke isn't going undefeated in the ACC. UConn has the easiest schedule left of all the top 10 teams and we probably aren't going undefeated either.

Uconn takes care of business they’ll get the 1 in the east. I doubt 2 one seeds come out of any league unless uconn or duke blow it. If they do a B12 or B10 team will likely snatch one.

Yea. KenPom says they have a 37% chance of going unbeaten in WCC

As a loyal Gonzaga follower, in addition to UConn, it's a near certainty they dump at least 1 game to St. Mary's during the season. The methodical style Bennett has those teams play with against Gonzaga puts such a premium on Gonzaga's shooting, which continues to be inconsistent.

I wouldn't be surprised if they lose another random league road game too against someone like Santa Clara too. If USF would ever play Gonzaga on campus again instead of at Chase Center seemingly every year now, they'd have a lot better shot of an upset too.
