Hey all-In the market for some new basketball shoes, current ones are a bit past their prime. Looking for a new pair, same old requirements. Not incredibly expensive but flexible on that, good support/cushion, not high top but not super low.

Been doing some research but I am not really in the sneaker game at all. I play 3+ times a week indoors usually. Lot of people have recommended D Wade’s, read some reviews that LeBron’s and Giannis’ are good as well. Just curious if anyone has any recommendations.

Thanks!

This is my area, though full on playing isn’t happening lately.

Sabrina’s are known for being great for ball. Tons of players wear them. GT line (GT Cut, etc.) are also excellent. I have Giannis’s they are good and comfortable but maybe a tad heavy. Same with Lebrons. Very supportive and comfy but heavier than I personally like.

I’ve heard good things about the Jordan 39s too with the technology and comfort.

Have you heard any about the DWade’s? I went into this thinking I was def gonna get them but I am trying to get all info I can. Heard the Shadow 6s are great.

I have not - I have heard good things too but nothing concrete that I know. I generally wear Nike and will mix up with some others. Haven't dipped into the Wades yet.

They look solid - the Klay and Kyrie Antas are cool too, and DeAaron Fox has some cool UA Curry brand coming out.

Allen Edmonds or Alden make basketball shoes? Goodyear welted hoop shoes.

I got old my friends. Got Allen Edmonds sneakers on. What the hell.

I am in my mid 50's and I currently back playing after my 3rd retirement - I keep saying I am done but then miss playing and come back. I have always worn Nike's over the years so when my Hyper Dunk's hit the end of their useful life last year, I only shopped Nikes and Jordans. I read tons of reviews and tried on just about every one. I ended up buying 3 pairs:

Nike Giannis Freak 5 - I do not like these at all. Felt comfortable in the store but after about an hour on the court they really hurt my feet. And I have worn them several times hoping they would break in. I would say I have a "normal" foot but one of the knocks in the reviews was "not good if you have wide feet". Yeah they hurt.

Jordan Luka 2 - Solid Shoe. A bit heavy. And a bit stiff. Also, they are already pretty worn after one year.

Nike Lebron 21 - This was the highest rated shoe in all the reviews I read. I waited until I could get them for under $100 so I have only worn them a couple of times. They are the best out of the three I bought and will probably be my main shoe this season.

What I have learned after not buying shoes for years: These shoes are all very different. It is hard to know what is going to work for you. Best bet is go to a shoe or sporting goods store and try them all on. Then search online for price. I got all of the shoes pretty cheap which is why I bought multiple pairs. I bought the Luka's first and probably could have just stuck with them because they worked fine for me. I am glad I bought the Lebron's. They are nice. The Freak 5's will probably end up on eBay...

Great advice - find a Nike outlet store, or a foot locker, and go try on a few different pair.

You’re pretty spot on about everything, including getting sucked back in! Knee surgeries, back surgeries…more knee surgeries and I’m only in my early 40s, but every time I can I still shoot.

Lukas are great but my personal opinion is they dug into my foot in a weird way - feet are so unique so that’s important to remember.

But Sabrina, LeBron, KD, GT Cut all have great reputations for on court performance.

I think basketball shoes are something you have to try on. Everybody's foot is different.

I've hated high-tops my entire life. I don't even go backpacking in high top boots, let alone play basketball. But other people swear they provide them more ankle support.

Bron 21s have good reviews it seems. Probably gonna choose between those and the D Wade’s. Thank you for the response!

I was always a fan of the Hyperdunks and very disappointed when they were discontinued. Recently bought a pair of Lebron 21s and they're probably my favorite shoe that I have had since my old Hyperdunks. Definitely a little heavier and took a while to break in. Plenty of support, cushioning, and grip.
