How did you even come up with this name as a comparison? I know "poor man's" implies lesser version but usually the comparison involves players along the same size with less talent. Westbrook is 6'3"-6'4", long armed and brolic, Boatright is lucky to be 5'10" and 170lbs, when an NBA team looks at Boatright the last name they are thinking of is Westbrook. Think other small pg's...
Well when I think similar players I think of their games. Both bring great D, both are streaky-good 3 point shooters, both can get to the rim, both can score in bunches and at the same time make plays. Westbrook and Boatright also share similar attitudes towards the game. That why I think Boat to Westbrook is fair comparison.

Westbrook does it against the world's finest. Boatright does it against college kids many who are average. Westbrook is a star. I know you love your Husky players and I know you mean well, but if Boatright played for Notre Dame or any other team I think this comparison would never have happened.

Boat could blow up next season because the opportunity will be there. Just like it was for JL last year. He needs to show he can guard bigger pgs

He's not saying Boatright is as good as Westbrook today, or even that he will be in the future. Just that their games are similar.

Anyone here remember Chad Wise? He told me he was going to the NBA haha. True story
the funny thing about that is that he was an all american QB coming our of Arkansas or wherever... he probably would have had better shot if he stuck to football

I think the Nate Robinson comparison is fair, but Nate Robinson spent three years in college. If Ryan can raise his draft stock high as a sophomore, more power to him; it will help us recruit a great replacement. But if he has to come back for a third year, it would be no shame.

This isn't what you want to be hearing from your sophmore PG in July. I just checked nbadraft.net, and Boatright isn't even a projected second round pick in the upcoming draft, and the only guy on the team even projected to be drafted is Napier (52). I obviously can't fault him for dreaming big, but Boatright just needs to focus on getting better and helping the team win right now. His draft stock will fall into place if he plays hard, listens to Calhoun, and leads by example.

Boatright has a lot of talent, but I'm going to have to agree with a previous poster who said he likely would not have been drafted had he declared for the draft last season. It's clear that if he was seriously considering this, he has a lot of people in his ear that he probably needs to stop listening to regarding his future. Jim Calhoun has been in this buisness for a long time - listen to him, and tune everybody else out.

He's too small to be a first round pick in any draft unless it's the weakest ever... Or if he is Jason Williams (the Duke one) good.

This years draft was excellent. Even if it was a little point guard weak, doesn't matter. He's never even shown point skills, hasn't even had the chance yet.

But hey I like the confidence. He and bazz and Omar are going to have to drain a lot of threes and cause a lot of turnovers for us to even be .500 in the BE this year. Going to have to be villanova type team

its all me, me, me with a few I's thrown in. tough to read stuff like that.

I think it's hard for a fairly intelligent, humble and experienced adult to like those quotes. He seemed to play hard and there was never talk of him being selfish so I give him a pass, but I definitely don't like the sound of this. He'll probably get a talking to. Maybe KO can take him in the gym and school him so he realizes even an over the hill NBA journeyman can tear him up.
