Does anyone know what the story is with Olmstead. The kid was a high draft pick out of high school, was redshirted last year and was expecting him to see some action this year by now. Injury maybe?
Thanks, I was just curious. No I am good with Testani in there he does do a lot of little things good such as bunt, fields well and does take a good amount of walks.Last pre season Penders mention in interviews that Olmstead had trouble making contact with the ball when hitting. I suspect that this is still true. Take a look at Olmstead's 2014 summer baseball stats at Torrington, where he struck out 60 times in 161 at bats, well over a third of time. He ended up hitting .217 for the summer. By contrast, take a look at Jon Testani, who you've been critical in the past for his frequent strikeouts. Testani, playing in the same summer league, struck out 33 times in 117 at bats, a bit over a quarter of the time. Testani in fewer at bats walked almost twice as much as Olmstead, and ended up hitting .282 for the summer.
We must be in a rush to get back on the plane today. Back to old habits of a lot of first pitch hitting and as a result we have 1 hit.

Wow, Max Slade is a wreck. He was the one pitcher last week at KSU I noticed really had no control over his pitches and he is picking up where he left off today.
Both Slade & Connor David came in as well regarded players from Cheshire high. Both seemed to be passed over by several players, in their respective positions, over the years. No question about it, Max Slade seems to be regressing. It seemed that not too long ago he was fairly close to joining the select group of relievers that Penders relies on in tight games, and in fact was given some chances to do so. Slade always had some control problems, but now it seems to be turning into a chronic problem where it seems that just about every pitching appearance turns into something of an adventure, and not a good one. Holmes and Radue are moving ahead of him on the relief pitching depth chart.
