Walking away with two main feelings

1. We’ve lost the last two weeks because we didn’t close out free wins and threw them away. Shoutout Cam for being a monster all game and for closing it out for us. A win is a win at the end of the day

2. This team’s ceiling gets significantly lower every week

Edwards wasn't gonna let us lose today

The defense is still a mess and gives up too many big plays but the effort seemed a lot better. Lots of probable TDs stopped with effort that took a lot of time off the clock

My first eyes on a game this year, all radio so far. Defense totally unqualified to play at this level. Those who saw Syracuse, I assume we looked different? In what way? Could we tackle, did we have a rush, good schemes??

I will take any win. Game balls for Cam Edwards, Skyler, Joe, and Wes Hoeh.

This defense is God awful. They allowed this game to be closer than it should have been. They can never get the key 3rd or 4th down stop. This 3-3-5 ain't working, at least not with this roster. This game shows that UConn is not going to have any easy shoe-in victories the rest of the way regardless of who they play.

We were getting guys on the ground at Cuse.

Welp, a W is a W. Ugly and not impressive.

Brock's defense is a mess. It lacks quality starters on the D Line and there doesn't appear to be much depth. Once the D Line is gassed teams can move the ball at will against the Huskies. A private sit down and ass chewing by Mora towards Brock is appropriate.

Offensively, it was Jimmy and Joe better than X's and O's. Edwards was better than any Ball St defender and the best plays Sammis called were hand offs to Edwards.

Kudos to Mora for growing a set and realizing he can't depend on his defense to stop anyone. 5-5 on fourth down was the difference in the game extending drives and leading to scores.

I'd like to see Mora bring in someone to sit down with Sammis to discuss drawing up better plays inside the 5 yard line.

Another clean game overall from UConn with no turnovers.

The back breaker 4th down play by Ball St. was absolutely made possible by a no call on holding in the backfield as Kelly scrabmled to his right. Refs make that call and it was game over.

2-2 and it seems like this team is a disaster. They go to Buffalo next where Troy just punch Buffalo in the mouth in upstate NY.

A third of the way through the season and there is a lack of any identity on defense. Offensive identity should be to get the ball to Edwards or Bell every play. Today is was 24 carries for Edwards and 14 catches for Bell. That was 38 of the 67 offensive plays.

gotta disagree about effort on defense. Effort was lacking on plenty of plays. Guys just getting steamrolled, allowing yards after contact, etc. Defense is physically weak.

Does anyone else cringe when we pose like Greek gods after a play against a former FCS team or an FBS team ranked among the nation’s worst?

Yes, I’m an old school Boomer, but Lombardi was right. “Act like you’ve been there before.”

Point #2 hits hard because it's harsh but true. I am glad they won, but that win was anything but satisfying. It just reinforces the notion UConn Football is not ready for the big time. We all wanted this team to take a step forward from last year and it looks like it regressed. It's not like they were all that great last year as they had some ugly victories over crap competition.

just an opinion of course, but I think the first part disproves the "sitdown/ass-chewing" part. Who is more at fault; Brock for running a "bad" D, ORRRR..... Mora for not effectively replacing guys like McDonald, Jelani Stafford, & Pryce Yates?

Brock is still Brock and he did well with the pieces he had last year. I say these D players are not getting it done. Saw some really uninspiring DLine play the last few weeks, dudes bouncing off OLinemen and trying again, and bouncing off again. no penetration at.all. You can't outscheme being consistently bullied at the line, you need to win some of the time, which we just cannot do to save our lives. And this is being bullied by the likes of CCSU and Ball State, to boot.

Brock needs to switch something up defensively because its clearly not working this year. The last two drives by Ball State were atrocious, especially the touchdown where the receiver dragged 3 defenders 5 yards into the end zone.
I counted at least 7 at one point.
