Baha Mar Women's Championship Tourney

When was the last UConn-BC game? Prior to them voting no?

.-.
Again Kim doesn't play UConn, you would think LSU would at least play UConn once in these tournaments. It's at least the 4th time over the last 6 or 7 holiday tournaments LSU is there but doesn't play UConn.

Yeah, what are the odds of this happening randomly? Shouldn't who you play be the luck of the draw?

I would like to see every tournament end in a championship game. If a tournament doesn't end in a championship game is it really a tournament? I say no. That makes it more of a boondoggle.

It's basically just a bunch of teams coming to one place to play a couple of out of conference games, and there's not much mystery as to the match-ups. As you've figured out it's not random because it's not a real tournament.

Yeah, it's a nice trip away for the kids (and coaches). Good bonding for the team (possibly families if they come). And it gets you 2-3 games for the price of 1.

There is a championship. Well 2 of them.

Think of it as 2 separate tournaments being run at the same place.

I actually like how these games round out our OOC schedule. Oregon State is a bit of a mystery given they lost almost their whole team but I do think that coach is still quite good so there will be some value in that game. Then while Ole Miss isn't the sexy match up of LSU/NC State (though i am a bit bored of the NC State match ups tbh), they should still be a top 25 team that plays a different style of play than the rest of our schedule and will be great preparation for a second round NCAA or Sweet Sixteen NCAA match up. And really one of the first steps of gearing up to what should be an pretty difficult December.

I think these are mostly disappointing matchups for UConn. Ole Miss though is tough. They are athletic. They play defense. They are not a fun team to play against. But they will make UConn better in the long run.

I think a comp for Oregon State this year is “bad big east team”. So probably as good as providence or DePaul.

Did they lose anyone besides Marquesha Davis?

I hope to listen to these games on UConn's radio broadcast. Will there be any way to watch a video of the games after the fact . . . ever?

Yes. On FloHoops. :(

That’s why I’ll pay for a month and get to watch the kids play two games.

I consider it money well spent. My wife will watch teams play that I don’t care to watch for a while month.

Not too many families are likely going to be able to afford Nassau. Last year the wife won a 'free trip' as one of the franchisees of her parent company; the free trip included the hotel room for three nights and the banquet on one of the evenings. We were able to afford to go out to restaurants, but many were not! One couple got on an airplane and returned to the States the day before the banquet even started. A group of us got together and just ordered Pizza Hut one evening as that was all that they could afford; Pizza Hut being the affordable option ... $85.00 for a large Supreme!

There are probably deals through the school I would think, that would make it a bit cheaper. And these girls are getting NIL. Maybe not all the families, but some of them will be there.

I thought we did a closed door scrimmage with them last year or maybe 2023
