Am exhausted still two nites after return from Valencia... Maya and gang won Sat nite vs Zaragoza, easily- that darn Anne Wauters of Valencia, looks incredible, just had a baby 3--4 months ago? She looks 25, thin, and what a nice kid--- some Spaniard + wife were watching a cute ball of blonde boy baby on baseline, in a VIP-type(for Spain) area, he was adorable, I handed he, into his tiny fingers, a 2011 Maya cover pocket schedule, as I brought a lot over there to spread the word--- he takes it, and it turns out , the Span guy says to me, 'Dis is Anne Vaters bay-bee"... and I almost ...... as i did not know that yet-- what a doll--... i told Anne about that outside, getting autographs, she asks, "Oh you're from the States?" .. I did not know they still use that term.. course she's from Belgium i think, and a sweetie-- but she has to be 30 ?...looks incredible....
i think, as i was very tired over there- my misery stayed with me over there in spite of 12 days of antibiotics.. but think I spoke in Spanish to Maya, and she back, "hasta luego.." Amayazing---I'm speaking Spanish, to one of the greatest female athletes of all time (no?) and one of the nicest human beings too.... - was i dreaming?? some Spanish author wrote 200-300-400 years ago, "La Vida Es Suenyo" - Life is A Dream... was that real??
and I'm helping some women, who are cuties, from Madrid and Czech Republic, get Diana stuff..?? , cause they love her ? Gotta tell Geno that...too much - had to be a dream....
and the 1500 (?) Spanish fans there Sat nite, most of them, i think, dont even know who Maya is... or even that she is on the court, playing right in front of them-- as i offer to them her UConn pocket schedule from 2011, and I get, "Hm? ?Como? "
... it's a big, old city, and it's not Storrs or UConnland, so the game atmosphere was somewhat disappointing....- but maybe they are right-- "Get out of the gym, and go enjoy the palm tree covered avenues, and have a tapa -chorizo or calamares or a small beer, or churros con chocolate, at the bar next to the 650-year old Miguelete tower, that you climb 207 steps up to view the city...where El Cid probably really did something long ago (built the tower? kicked out the Moors?) ....
Yeah hoops seems maybe secondary in paradise... but Maya is still a kind of paradise in her own way... I doubt she will stay there long.. but dont know if that lack of atmosphere is common over there...
(- anyway/where i can post photos here of the Diana/Tina vs Maya game from 2/1 ? )
PS - gotta mention- I said, out loud, right next to Epiph Prince ("PRINTZ ", for real, on back of her Galatasaray uniform) after game 2/1, "Oh, there's the one who had 27 points vs UConn and Maya, in second half, at RAC four years ago.. and killed UConn...Maya's only Reg season or BET Big East loss (teasing) .. (and she IS THE one who grabbed Maya's arm hard and pulled it down purposely and hurt her, at Civic Center later same season) but she says, " Oh, sorry," seemingly meaning it- smiling, shy?? I thought she would be a little gruff, as is from NYC, but had a warm smile.. was that for real ?
there is more , but i am so beat.... plan next trip there....
