Volleyball opponents were released today.

20 conference games
7 home
7 away
3 home and away

The 4 PAC schools will play each other home and away, and will only play 7 games outside their time zone. Teams were strategically picked to make two away games on one trip easy, so they are only going to make 2-3 trips out of the pacific time zone and play a couple games on those trips.

The 14 Eastern/Central schools will play either @ Oregon and Washington or @ USC and UCLA. One west coast trip to play 2 games each season.

If the B1G Presidents had their way, Stanford and Cal would be joining the B1G this summer too. According to the San Jose Mercury, the B1G Presidents wanted to add Stanford and Cal along with Oregon and Washington. However, FOX would not pay for Stanford and Cal, so the B1G Presidents nixed the additions.

2024-25 Big Ten Conference Men’s Basketball Opponents Announced

The B1G did a great job with their basketball schedule. The PAC schools will play home and away against the other 3 and then either home or away against everyone else. USC/UCLA will have identical schedules and Washington/Oregon will have identical schedules opposite of each other. That means each current B1G team will have 1 west coast trip to play 2 games. Either they travel to LA to play both USC and UCLA or they travel to the Pacific Northwest to play both Oregon and Washington. You can also tell who will be partner schools for 2 road games in one trip for those western schools ---- Michigan/Michigan State, Ohio State/Penn State, Maryland/Rutgers, Indiana/Purdue, Illinois/Northwestern, etc.

OREGON

The B1G released it's women's basketball conference opponents for next season. It logistically works out just like the men's schedule, only it's an 18 game schedule rather than 20. Only 1 opponent will be both home and away, and it's the biggest school rival, outside of the Penn State-Rutgers, Ohio State-Maryland pairings. It would have made more sense to pair Maryland-Rutgers and Penn State-Ohio State for the home and home. Wonder what went into that decision?
