Azzi: Strong competition for Big East Freshman of the Year from DePaul's Morrow

Big East player of the year will not be conceded to Azzi if Morrow has any say so. Haven't checked national level competition for NCAA freshman of the year. Not ranked by 2021 HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings - espnW 100. What an upset this would be.

Morrow had an impressive debut, dropping 31 points on 13-of-16 shooting as the Blue Demons defeated Texas Southern on Tuesday, 114-71. She added nine rebounds, four steals, three blocks and two assists. Morrow followed that with 11 points, nine boards and four blocks in Friday’s win over Loyola Chicago. For the week, Morrow averaged 21.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 2.0 steals.

The Aggies cooled her jets a bit but still good numbers against a tough team especially for a frosh.

She may not have been ranked by HoopGurlz - ESPNW but:

"All-State First Team selection by the Associated Press, Champaign News-Gazette and the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA)… after eclipsing the 1,000-point career mark as a junior, MaxPreps ranked her as the No. 1 recruit in the state and No. 20 in the nation."

it's not always easy for a UConn freshman to stand out with one recent exception............UConn's style of play normally limits gaudy individual numbers........I'm giving some time to settle in but I have a feeling once she starts feeling it she'll be a strong competitor for those honors....
