Azzi putting in work | The Boneyard

Azzi putting in work

I don't care if it was 2 years ago, 2 months, ago, 2 weeks ago. It is always nice to see Azzi getting up shots. If Azzi reads the Boneyard, I hope she knows that we are cheering her on and wishing all the best for her.

Making shots is great. I want to see her run the court, make quick moves, cuts and defensive stops. We all want a healthy Azzi, for her, for the team and the fan base. Good luck Azzi, we want you back.

There's video somewhere of Geno in a past season talking to the team prior to the start of practice and it was simply that who got minutes would be decided in practice in September & October. Everyone starts equal. As long as it fair I don't think there will be a chemistry issue. There may be disappointment but Geno picks his players carefully.

The best play this coming season may happen in the UConn scrimmages.

Jumping and landing! Good to see from miss fudd! Based on this I assume the last step in recovery is full contact clearance!
The last step is playing on it with abandon. That takes a few games.

Really nothing to see here or get excited about It is just a compilation of shots over various periods. Note that Azzi has 3 different tops on, gray. white and black (or dark blue).

This post is NOT to take anything away from Azzi's shooting ability-hopefully the best in the country this year, but rather to point out that this is not one sequence, instead it is recorded over a number of practice sessions

.-.
Since no one knows when or whether Azzi might have yet another knee problem, the only safe plan is to let her come back gradually. Geno has Ash and others to occupy her spot when she's on the bench. The team loses nothing when Ash12 replaces Azzi or anyone else, except Paige. . . . I'm dubious whether the Brazilian gymnast's recovery from three ACLs is comparable to Azzi's situation.

Yup. When she starts banging knee on knee, much will become clear. It only takes one bad bang. I remember cringing when Paige first returned and ran into traffic. I held my breath until I'm now permanently blue in the face.

More will be clear when she is aggressively running the court, cutting, and doing jump stops. Most female ACL injuries are non-contact.

Short but encouraging.

Great to see her shooting, but I didn't understand this line:

"@azzi_35 shattered multiple shooting records over the last week and a half."

What records did she shatter over the last week and a half? The video was posted August 24, so obviously no games of any kind... what records is the poster referring to?

It’s bizarre. I assumed he meant she broke her personal best, or some such thing.

Yeah. I imagine as a trainer he probably keeps records of shooting drills especially for elite athletes. I'm thinking she broke those records.

They mean their gym records. Like they count makes and misses and certain drills and she performed better than any other athlete at that gym. I know that makes her better than atleast Paige but now sure who else lol.

Well, it might make her better than Paige in that gym, on that day, with nothing on the line but bragging rights, but it is relatively meaningless as it pertains to playing real games. She is certainly a great shooter and, who knows, could be better in real games than Paige, I suppose, but I doubt it. I certainly hope so, however, as it would be almost unfair to the rest of women’s basketball!

I will be ecstatic if she (Azzi) can just have a healthy season! Any kind of comparison between her and Paige is really beside the point, with the possible (hopeful) exception of which one looks more graceful up on the ladder after the final game of the season! :)

Two Godzilla-level shotmakers on the same team playing side by side. I can see that being almost unfair.

Suspect that it may take part of the season for Azzi to ramp up to anywhere near where she was in the past. Not an issue for me since she is one of the most natural shooters in college history and even if she initially only puts in 15-20 minutes a game, she could still be a game changer.
