No, PLEASE DONT start a discussion of shot mechanics.

But this seems a tad concerning. It's gone beyond "just one or two games." Also, up and down to average out is not what you want from a key shooter.
Maybe some fatigue?

It isn't just her 3 point shot. She's missing mid range and even layups. I'm sure if the horde were to ask Geno he would say it's just a slump. I can't imagine fatigue. The way she defends - it's elite. She doesn't get enough credit for her defense...

slump ... fatigue? regardless, the trend undermines her draft & AA & Huskies of Honor hopes. she better rectify this.

i suspect her confidence/overthinking may be an obstacle.

She has been under the weather a bit, I suspect she'll bounce back but she was visibly sick last night and even Geno mentioned she wasn't 100%. When she missed that free throw, I knew it was an off night. She typically plays very well against Tennessee and if she doesn't then we need to look at that again but I suspect she'll have another breakout game against them.

The stat watching on Azzi is a little tiresome I'm not gonna lie. She's had one bad game.

1/15 - 14 PT 43% FG
1/19 - 15 PT 54% FG
1/22 - 19 PT 42% FG
1/24 - 14 PT 63% FG
1/28 - 6 PT 17% FG

Is her three ball not falling as it has been? Yes. I get everyone is used to steady efficient Azzi who has defined herself with her 3pt shot, but please let's have some perspective.

Yea…that was obvious, especially last game. Not worried one bit.

Azzi is a competitor, plain and simple. No one knows better than her that her shot has not been dropping. It usually starts innocuously as just an off night, then it turns into, yeah, a bit of a funk, and then it is a slump. By the time it hits the slump stage, it begins to seep into the head, and it usually takes something loud and unexpected to get you back on track. As much as I think Azzi was thrilled for Ziebell and her performance against Xavier, I think it may have woken up Azzi's competitive juices. I expect to see Azzi coming out against Tennessee firing on all cylinders the kid is just too much of a competitor for this to carry on much longer. What better time to get back into the groove than when you are playing against "The Orange"...Rocky Top be damned.

I agree. even if she isn't 100% she will play like it is the FF. Look for her to take control early. If she starts hitting, it's " Katie bar the door."

Azzi is a fifth year senior. She shined last year during the tournament and she may well do it again in a couple of months. On the defensive side she has been on target all season. Just stellar defensive. Who knows what is taking place if anything at all. Her last great game was against Iowa. That was also the last game that she scored 20+ points in a game. Geno once said that kids don’t get tired. Who knows. Whatever it is I sure hope that she bounces back on Sunday. Tennessee will be our hardest task until the NCAA Tournament. Below are all 22 games that we have played. Along with Field Goals taken; 3-point shots and points scored.

When she gets over 15 FGA, good things happen. I'd also think her minutes in this equation is a big factor, she's playing in 2-3 quarter in alot of these games vs Louisville, FSU, Michigan, Iowa, even Georgetown she play in the 4th quarter at least.

I didn’t do minutes. I will assume that they are way under 30. You mentioned Georgetown and playing in the 4th. That is also because that was her home game.

It's a long season and your sweating over a small recent sample size. The games always get increasingly physical as the season goes on. I'm not concerned about her one bit.

I’m not concerned. As I posted before in another thread I just want to see her name up on the wall. And, at the way she has been playing lately it may not be worthy enough to place her on the 10 member WBCA All America list. But as you said the season still has games to be played.

Well said.

Having done alot of international travel and public speaking, if you sign autographs, slap spectator hands, and hug competitors as Azzi and most of UConn does, its near impossible not to get sick. Unfortunately as some of us know, with some of today's illnesses, some of these germs can last months. Its not a hardship to fist bump, not as fan friendly but more reasonable if you want to be well going into the playoffs.

I see this all the time. All of January in most years my college is a breeding g ground for flu viruses we call it the campus flu. Kids go home for the holidays and bring all sorts of variants of the virus back with them.
