Ayanna Patterson named to U18 3x3 (merged thread)

That’s a really good 3x3 team. Tons of length and athleticism.
Maybe some BY'r can really identify the strengths of this team in regards to 3 x 3. Are their talents really complementary?

The rest of the women’s squad includes Class of 2022 players Janiah Barker and Kiki Rice, as well as 2023 prospect Mikaylah Williams. The group will have a training camp in Chicago from Aug. 19-21 before participating in the tournament Aug. 24-29.

Hope there are some recruiting conversations between Patterson and Rice!

Two big, athletic guards, Rice & Williams, with 2 athletic forwards, Ayanna & Barker. No true post size, but Ayanna & Barker at 6’2” are both physical enough to handle opposing BIGs. This team is similar to the 3x3 HS team that Lou & Pheesa played on with Boykin & Ogunbowle.

Are the guards 3pt snipers in the KLS mold? That's important in 3 x 3

All it will take is for Rice to drop a dime to Ayanna on a backdoor cut at the rim. After Ayanna throws it down, Rice will be looking forward to 4 more years of the same.
You never can tell. Relationships formed in summer tournament games can be the tipping point in a player's decision of where to go. Especially if they are NOT leaning toward any particular program. The power of persuasion can be very strong some times.

:eek:Yea it would be really nice for Ayana Patterson to convince both Mikayla and Kiki to come to UCONN.

USA roster

The games have not been posted on the FIBA You tube page, as of yet.
However , the Brackets have been posted: USA in POOL B with
RUSSIA, Belarus, Mongolia, and Slovenia
Pool A Spain might be the best
Pool C Germany or Lativa ?
Pool D France or Hungary ( 5 X 5 Bronze at U19 !!)?

For interested BONEYARDERS: The USA POOL B GAME SCHEDULE / TIMES
Tuesday 8/24 6:45 AM EST 12:45 Hungarian time
Belarus( ranking based on ranking points: # 7) vs USA (rank: #17th, 6,242 pts)
note: FIBA has a, let us say, UNIQUE Ranking system!
Tuesday 9:00 AM EST 15:00 in Hungary
Slovenia ( ranked # 14 with 18, 336 "points" ) vs USA
Thursday 8/26 6:40 AM EST 12:40 in Hungary
Mongolia ( ranked 10, 33, 864 points) vs USA NOTE: Mongolia , I believe,
was "ranked" as high as 4th in the world! and # 1 in ASIA ( CHECK HOW THEY rank!)
THURSDAY 9:45 AM EST 15: 55 in Hungary
RUSSIA ( ranked 2nd with 84,540 points) vs USA
I watch the games on the FIBA "STREAMING" platform, free.
Usually I go to: FIBA U18 Women's 3X3 2021 and click on
" GAMES" = Daily SCHEDULE, WOMEN, UNITED STATES
They usually has something highlighted as "LIVE" or " pending".
DON'T be late, these games are ONLY 10 minutes long with few time outs. That
is why they play two game in the same day. N.B. Players Cannot foul out, fouling
is an " art form " in this format, very strategic!!
There is also information under: TEAMS: women/ ranking points, Guide: competition forms. If you don't get up early the games are generally available under "VIDEO" but this , I have found, is hit and miss, unless you wait a period of time. NOTE the other choices: BRACKETS, NEWS , etc. Let the games begin! ENJOY.
FRANCE SHOULD BE TOUGH, Egypt, somehow, is ranked # 1, I believe
it is because of the number of tournaments that they have competed in and how
many Egyptian teams and individual Egyptian players participated in these qualifying tournaments. As you might guess , MONGOLIA , the nation, has had qualifying tournaments in the past ( i.e. for the OLYMPIC WOMEN 3X3 qualifying rounds) Go AYANNA, Kiki, Janiah, and Mikaylah (sp?)
