Not sure this would apply in the event of a Purdue final. Favorites, yes, but not prohibitive, not with that dude in the middle potentially shooting 30 free throws. Have to get there first, of course

It was a 50-50 game. Which is exactly how I view Purdue - UConn if it happens. It really should be a toss-up like that game was. We aren't and shouldn't be prohibitive favorites, because Purdue has been just as good all along.
I will disagree and say very, very few gave us a chance to win that game. I will also say that I think we are the best team left, we can’t be overconfident. Inflict 40 minutes of hell tomorrow and hopefully on Monday, pedal to the metal, and don’t relent. Stay hungry.

If we go on to win, I will have loved being the celebrated favorite who rampaged through the Tournament.

If we lose, I will hate having been hyped to the point that a Final Four season is deemed disappointing.
Well put.

Thanks. I was talking about UConn-Duke in 1999 since Deepster said UConn would have beaten Duke 6 or 7 times out of 10. So I ran the simulation 10 times on a neutral court. Here were the scores. Duke wins 9 out of 10 times and mostly in romps. Lol. Duke would never score that much in 10 tries. Yeah I don't think this POS simulation is very good!

Duke 102 UConn 77
Duke 84 UConn 64
Duke 94 UConn 84
Duke 97 UConn 71
UConn 95 Duke 91
Duke 113 UConn 83
Duke 92 UConn 83
Duke 89 UConn 68
Duke 99 UConn 70
Duke 92 UConn 77

Who developed this program? Dick Vitale?
Forget the winner, this simulator is expecting like 170 points per game lol

Oh I agree. Media was stupid. They saw Duke and were made an underdog but not based on any reality. We were just as dominant. This year, Purdue is just as dominant as UConn. If that’s the matchup it’s an even game.

There should've been nothing shocking about UConn beating Duke in '99. That was the somewhat rare time Vegas got it completely wrong. They play that game 10 times and UConn wins 6 or 7 of them.
Dook had 2 national titles and was the top program in the country in the prime of the K era so the hype around them was inflated. It is laughable to think a team like that 34-2 Uconn team was a 10 point underdog. Wth were people outside of CT thinking? That game was a toss up and would be a toss up every time they played.
