There used to be a stone chapel attached to the Branford House on its left side in front of that brick building, it was pretty nice. Not sure why it was removed.Probably some the best views on a UConn campus:

The chapel was badly damaged by fire in the early '60s. I'm not sure when it was demolished. The footprint of the chapel was not ripped up and a large baptismal font still stands in the center of the slab. There was a lot of water infiltration in the main house and it was a major job doing the repairs.
When the Coast Guard occupied Avery Point I knew the son of one of the executive officers who had living quarters in the mansion.
