WNBA great Augustus retires, joins Sparks' staff

Eight-time All-Star Seimone Augustus announced her retirement from the WNBA on Thursday and was named an assistant on coach Derek Fisher's staff with the Sparks.

She was a terrific player who had an wonderful career. I remember seeing her in her early LSU days and she was so smooth. She was a gifted shooter and smart player who didn't draw a ton of attention to herself but just played basketball. I believe she's the last member of the 2005 draft class in the league.

Actually she’s class of 2006, not the last one either. Candice Dupree is still playing.
