The earth has moved. Jordan Danberry swishes a 3 at the buzzer. Possibly her first ever as a Bulldog.

She’s never made a three before? That’s bad advertisement for her draft stock.

Matharu deserves more minutes, period!

Also it looks like Vic does not teach his teams how to attack a zone.

Carter does not show up against any team with an inside game. 1 whole rebound.

Picking up 2 fouls quickly in the first half will take any player out the game. Got to be smarter.

Tough to know what to make of Miss State. Look tough in some key games but in others soft.

The key tonight was the adjustment made by Coach Schaefer of switching positions for C Bibby and J Danberry against the press. J Danberry started throwing it in to M Taylor then getting the return pass. Once she had it she simply outran Auburn’s ability to set the trap in the backcourt.

With their inconsistency it is going to be extremely difficult for Mississippi State to survive the next five games without a loss. Monday night versus Georgia, Thursday night at Tennessee, Sunday versus Texas A&M, Sunday at Kentucky then Thursday at Auburn. That midweek bye between A&M and Kentucky is huge.

Matharu not playing much is why this was even close. She would've weaved through all that traffic Auburn created today, scored 10 straight points just like she did against South Carolina, ended the game right there.

I guess Vic wanted Bibby in because she's becoming a really good rebounder, but I think with the way the game was played today, Bibby was rarely under the goal tonight to get those rebounds. She also stops in midcourt too long due to the trap, that affects the flow of our offense.

Auburn was trying to do as less as possible tonight - most of their points tonight were really easy and it seemed like we gave it to them. Bibby is a good rebounder when lots of the game is played under the basket like against South Carolina.

I disagree regarding Matharu. She gave up some easy baskets and she was letting Auburn speed her up. I was impressed with Mingo-Young coming in and playing under control.

I'm no expert with basketball, so I don't know who is primarily giving up those easy baskets, but I'm guessing there must be a reason Taylor plays so much more than Matharu. Taylor can really force turnovers and I totally see why she's there.... she also plays consistently the same game every game. But I guess I was more thinking Matharu's instant offense could've put Auburn away, but I think Vic thinks she's not 'understanding' the defensive side of the ball well enough and that's why she doesn't play as much.

I agree. It is amazing the amount of production she gives in the minutes played.

I am not sure we were watching the same game. I don't think Matharu was an issue at all. She was fine when she played, both sides of the floor. She actually was not crazy jacking up shots for once which was nice.

Carter committing dumb fouls, Taylor and AEH turning the ball over were big reasons the game was so close in the first half. A lot of lazy passing and State getting run on in transition was a big issue for them.

Did Matharu play any minutes? She is, in my opinion, the best answer we have for a zone, good driver with outside shot, and Auburn played zone most of the game. Based upon what Matharu did the last two games I expected she would get major minutes. Guess I do not know basketball as well as I think I do. BTW, Jackson was stellar tonight.

I don’t disagree with the lazy passing and other points. R Jackson also didn’t have a good first half.

I like A Matharu in spurts and she is very productive in the minutes played. I think she can be an elite defender in time as she has many of J Danberry’s traits but she is much stronger. I actually think she is a better defender right now in the zone as she can recover to get back in position to stay in front of the ball. However after being tried at point guard she has let J Mingo-Young get her minutes at the position. On at least two defensive possessions tonight her player got by her when she overplayed. Again I think she is a really good player and can be a great player. However I think if Coach Schaefer had thought tonight she could have handled Auburn’s pressure then he would have played her more. From the time I saw her in there she wasn’t bad but in my opinion she was not ready for the situation.

Not sure how you can say Taylor was an issue. She gets steals like she gets points. She has her turnovers, but she also forces not only steals, but a lot of bad passes and draws charges.

Our defense wasn't good today... who knows why. Vic didn't look at the film well enough I guess, but they shouldn't score 73 points on us. We've allowed 70+ only 4 times this year.
