Ever done it as a 20 year old?

Never ceases to amaze me how much folks believe they are experts on STRANGERS medical issues. For all any of us knows, she cleared the drive with her doctor.

My concern goes beyond discomfort. Still doesn't make sense, after all that she has been through. I always caution my patients to really lay low for the first few weeks. Ok, I'm not a doctor, but if I was....

I had back surgery in my 50’s. After a couple days of down time, my doctor strongly encouraged me to start walking. Aubrey is 30 years younger, and a whole lot healthier than me. There is absolutely no good reason for her not to be up and about.

the fact that you dont get that 20 year olds have a different recovery path and timeline than 50 or 60 year olds further proves your expertise

Always appreciate your comments, OD. Walking seems reasonable. But walking around with a cane, riding in a vehicle, getting up , sitting down, standing, supported on the edge of a table, for many hours just seems a lot. And for what?

2-3 hour bus trip, walking with a cane, supporting herself against a table for a few more hours, another 2-3 hour bus trip, all after just having back surgery. Don't get it. Even if she was not traveling with the team, still makes no sense.

I would imagine her physician cleared her to travel, or it would have left the university vulnerable to liability if she further injured herself. Be happy for the young lady rather than being a downer; the team was happy to have her back.

Aubrey has had to deal with the terrible disappointment of not playing this season. She’s probably been home since her surgery feeling like she’s not even part of the team anymore.

After watching this video it’s hard to believe that this group of young ladies was unwelcoming and not accepting of another teammate. I think we as parents need to step up and teach our children to be responsible for their own actions. It’s easy to make excusesAnd not as easy to take ownership.

FYI don’t forget that if Aubrey was home it’s only 38 minutes from Ossining to Queens so it’s a relatively short car ride. And I’m sure her family and Connecticut wouldn’t take chances with her health.

I don't know if Aubrey will be good enough to play pro ball, but she may achieve her Doctorate by the time she leaves the school. Think about it Aubrey, redshirting plus the free year is an opportunity to further your education to the max in case basketball doesn't work out in the end. I really hope to have her back next year, she is a dynamo.

I won't attempt to give a medical opinion since I'm not an orthopedist or physical therapist. I can only assume (dangerous) that Aubrey's doctors and the people who are closest to her have her health and well being at heart. The decision for her to come to St. John's was, I'm sure, well thought out.
I will say that when I saw her on the bench with the other Huskies, it made ME feel good. I imagine that it must have done Aubrey some spiritual good as well.
Being at home, injured and unable to play,watching her teammates and FRIENDS/SISTERS struggling in her absence must have been a real bummer for Aubrey, especially knowing her dedication and competitive spirit. I hope her recovery is complete and as pain-free as possible.
Basketball is just a game, but having seen the way Aubrey approaches that game, I have to believe that if the healing process is favorable, she will be seen on the court again.

Little moments here and there remind Griffin of what that’ll be like. In the meantime, she’s feeling the support from her UConn family. Her teammates FaceTimed her when she had surgery, and Auriemma has been sure to check in, too. She got to be on the sideline with her team Sunday as it improved to 6-0 in Big East play. Auriemma, who had previously said he expects Griffin to be 100% for the start of next season, said Sunday that Griffin told him “she feels better than she’s felt in a long time,” a hopeful harbinger of things to come next season and beyond.

“Watch out next year, because she’s going to be hungrier than ever,” Sterling (her mom) said. “I know how it was after her surgery in high school. She came back with a vengeance and had a great year. So we’re looking forward to it.”

We all need to take a minute and enjoy this, the way the season has gone this was truly a
"Hallmark moment"....I cried, and I also enjoyed every second of the video. We all cant wait for Aubrey to come back. Take care and get well...

Easy drive on a Sunday.

Maybe it's just me. I drive into Queens, wife's family lives there, Myrtle Ave, Bayside, Greenpoint ( or greenpernt) Metropolitian, ave, Flushing, Middle Village, some in Brooklyn, some far out near the old yip yip yap military base. It is always a hassle, traffic I believe is the same guys parked on the same lanes on the same roads. I never find the south shore or north shore roads without slow, stopped traffic.
Occasionally I take the LIE parking lot., that's not good too.

Any alligation that suggests this group was “unwelcoming to a teammate” would certainly seem pretty unlikely to me.
