Attendance Prediction Vs. Memphis

100% Agree!!! To get there by 7 you better leave by 2...that still has you sitting in bumper to bumper traffic to Bridgeport/New Haven
Uh...287 to 684 to 84 is mucho faster.

Not for me..it takes me 45 minutes just to get to Danbury...I live all the way on the other side of Westchester. I can get on Rt 15 at King St..about a mile from my house where the Hutch turns into the Merritt in Greenwich or onto 95 at Exit 4 in Greenwich which is about 2 miles...takes me 1:30 tops to Rentschler without traffic. On a Friday for traffic...I can pick my poison between 95, 15 ...I'm not driving to Danbury on 684 to deal with that traffic, then dealing with Waterbury AND Hartford traffic as well.

Hartford traffic is overrated.

22k

they're giving away tickets

All due respect, but if you are not having fun at UConn football games this season compared to the last half decade +, that is a you problem.

I guess one can argue it's all relative, but there's also the cumulative effect argument, people can and will get tired of not competing

I do believe Randy will change that, but it appears I was a tad bit overly optimistic about this year thinking the team would already be able to compete with our schedule.

But they are competing. The game was tied at 28 midway through the second half on Saturday. Twice UConn has reached 28 points this year. They did it how many times in the previous 3 years? Once? How many times did UConn go down by 10 and 1/4 of the attendance started heading for the gates? What happened when they went down by 14 or 17? Ghost town.

Fans have learn to win as much as the team does, but the "non-compete" argument is moot.

Now that the Yankees have won -- they'll be playing starting at 5 on Friday. Playoff baseball certainly will hurt the numbers.

Here come the ready made excuses.

How is that? The game is in Cleveland.....you can follow the game on your phone or the scoreboard should have updates.

I had every intention of going but work and my daughter's swim meet in of all places Oxford wouldn't give me adequate time to get there. Plus it probably doesn't set a good precident tailgaiting on the way to the stadium on Route 6 through Bristol.

If you're not drinking on Rte 6 through Bristol, you're doing it wrong. ;)

Red Sox play at 2, crowd will be fine;).
There's a newfangled invention called a DVR. There is an even newer one called the radio. I recall 2003. I was in the centerfield bleachers at Fenway for Game 4 of the ALDS, listening to the Patriots on a Walkman. To use the Yankees game to not tailgate or go to the game is not even trying.

Regarding the Sox, our set up includes a 32 inch flat panel and unlimited data. Adapt or die.

What does this have to do with what I posted? I’m 28 btw so I’m quite familiar with DVRs and technology. I was just pointing out Sox fans could watch the whole game then go to the Rent if they pleased (since someone commented about the NYY game time overlap). It wouldn’t affect my choice to go the game but I’m in Florida so I can’t.

They need to look at attendance as if it is trickle down economics. Give the tickets away or sell them dirt cheap, fill the Rent, sell food, drinks merchandise and hope for a big win that leaves people wanting more. I realize this will upset people who paid for tickets, but some other way to compensate them can be found. We just need to get a stadium full of noisy people and win a couple of games to get things going. I’m pretty sure we’re going to win a couple of games, I’m more worried that very few people will be there to see it.

Nothing. It was directed toward Yankee fans.

As to the original post: My crew of 12, my "young alumni" son, my sister & brother-in-law will be there en masse. Anyone else is gravy!:p

OK but dvring the yankee game and then not finding out who wins while at the uconn game isn't realistic, and listening to or following the game is not the same as watching it. You don't follow a team for 162 games hoping they can make the playoffs so you can track the playoff games on your phone.

Im gonna go on Friday but its not an easy decision and im not going to criticize people who would rather watch a playoff game than this

As I said...

Hey, I couldn't care less how anyone prioritizes their life, but how does offering up unsolicited excuses encourage a fanbase (in general. Not necessarily gw or you) that is in a constant pitch of fit about how poor the attendance compares to other programs and/or yesteryear?

I would rather offer suggestions (in a backhanded manner, though it may be) of how it is possible to do more than one thing at the same time.

I said two weeks ago.

Never said it was the preferred method, but certainly better than missing the game altogether.

Looks like the chance of rain has vanished and it should be a beautiful fall night with temps in the 60’s! Perfect football weather!!!!
