Yes.Would an NIT championship count toward a 3-peat?
Yes.Would an NIT championship count toward a 3-peat?
Agreed. No way this team is beating a #1 or #2. This team has major flaws. Point guard (lack of depth), size in the middle (against team's with tall, physical big men), frequent ice cold shooting stretches to name a few. We'll need an extremely fortuitous NCAA Tournament draw to do any damage. That's what I was thinking too. Sweet sixteen would definitely be a success but the way things are going, we might have to knock off a 1 or 2 seed for that so... it might not be very realistic.
It’s always nice to dream.Sights being set way too low here.
We should accept nothing less than a NC and here's how it will happen:
-TR becomes the starter and averages a double/double all the way through the NC win.
-LM is the Cam of 2025 and leads with fire and aggression.
-SB continues to grow as a defender and distributor while maintaining his high 3 pt %
-HD recovers enough to play 30 minutes per game while being spelled by...........
-AN for 5 to 10 minutes per game playing tight defense and gaining confidence with each game
-AK regains his fine motor skills that were disrupted by the concussion and becomes the 23/24 player that meant so much
-JS becomes a consistent scorer, rebounder and defender for 20-25 minutes per game
-Samson Johnson reprises his 24 role with 15 active, dunking, hedging minutes while making his FT's and running the PNR to perfection for 3 dunks per game
-JR gives 8 to 10 active minutes on defense and even makes a three now and then
-IA gets 5 minutes per game and makes an important steal and dunk to win the Championship!!!!!!
I’m trying to decide between schizophrenia or Manic / DepressiveThis place has gotten very funny very quickly. What’s the ven diagram of people saying after Creighton that we were a sleeper final four team with those now saying they just hope we get a bid and don’t embarrass ourselves? A circle?
We don’t do anything halfway around here.
And as horrible a proposition missing the NCAAT would be if it becomes a reality ( and I know I’m gonna be killed for mentioning the women’s team on this forum), The women’s team just beat the # 4If the 68 team field were drawn up today—-yes they would be in no danger of missing.
But there is a lot of season left. After yesterday there are no more “games they should win”. They lost that privilege. Do you not objectively see a scenario where lose 3-4 more games in regular season and then one in MSG?
3-3 regular season and 0-1 in MSG is 20-12 with a couple horrendous losses. No Big East team is getting in with that record. And that’s not even the worst possible outcome!
So yeah…..they control their own destiny. Win and you’re in. But missing tourney is very much on the table.
After replaying the game ( second half) a few times and seeing the complete transformation in their attitude effort and passion and the refusal to lose mentality you’d think you were watching two completely different teams. If Dan Hurley can get the team that we all saw the last ten minutes start games with the same passion and intensity they played with against Nova they will surprise a lot of people with a deep run in the NCAAT in spite of their up and down regular season. The difference in the Nova game going from looking like they were on the verge of being blown out to not just coming back but doing it in such a dominating fashion was incredible. JMHOAnd as horrible a proposition missing the NCAAT would be if it becomes a reality ( and I know I’m gonna be killed for mentioning the women’s team on this forum), The women’s team just beat the # 4
ranked team and easily the most dominant program of the past decade, South Carolina by 29points on the road in front of a hostile sold out crowd. The women haven’t won a NC in 7 years and this is the farewell tour of two generational players (Paige B and Azzi F) who’ve been injured a majority of their careers and haven’t even had one entire season together including this year. So while anything’s possible with this years men’s team keep in mind that this years women’s team is special and might be the last best chance for Geno to grab what’s become an elusive 12th NC. One of the benefits of being a UConn fan is we’ve been blessed with not one but two outstanding basketball programs ( In addition to improving football, perennial top baseball team, hockey, soccer and all the rest). I would’ve put this on the women’s forum but the reason for posting it here was for the fans of the men’s team who might not be aware of or up to date on what’s going on with our other highly successful program. ( both Paige and Azzi have made their intentions known as to the likelihood of this being their last rodeo and other highly ranked players are out of eligibility).
