Honestly, I'd be happy if we made the NCAA tournament and got out of the first weekend.
This right here. It was clearly from first 5 minutes against Memphis that we weren’t going to win a title. Team was flawed from the start and the various expectations for both individuals and team were way, way off. Get 21-22 wins, make the tourney, and get the second weekend to bow out like champs. Thats successful to me. We’re just not that good.

Get to the 2nd round. That's as far as Duke got when defending their B2B, and Florida didn't even make the tournament.

Still think this team can get to the 2nd weekend. A lot of it is matchups. A lot of it is how they finish the season. This kind of loss wakes you up, or finishes you.

Expectations have seriously been adjusted. I just want us to make the tournament. Once Liam came back and we won at Creighton I figured we would win both against Seton Hall, Nova, Providence, Georgetown, Johnnies a tossup at The Garden, and winning a close one at home against Marquette to close out the regular season giving us momentum for postseason play. The schedule set up really nicely.

The loss yesterday changed everything, it never even occurred to me we could play so terribly. Just an average uninspired performance against this Seton Hall team should be a 25 point win on paper.

The staff is getting a lot less out of this group than I expected.

Let's face it: the roster construction this season is just not good enough. Mahaney was a miss. Reed IMO is solid but he fouls too much. McNeeley was a huge hit. Karaban is worse than last year. Now, Diarra is injured. Ball is much improved. Stewart is better than last year too. We just aren't as deep.

The only players I feel comfortable with on the court when healthy: Ball, McNeeley, Stewart, Karaban, Reed, and Diarra. That's only six guys. We simply aren't deep enough.

That being said, I would not be stunned if we go on a Kamba-like run with McNeeley and win the whole thing. IMO, a lot of teams are overrated: chief among them is Duke who has played about 7 NCAA tournament caliber teams all year and is only 4-3 against them. I don't trust the SEC or Big 10 to win the whole thing either. The top teams in the Big 12 (Iowa State and Houston) are repeat chokers. Gonzaga is down.

I guess we have overestimated the value of offense and perimeter 3's (like the NBA) at the expense of defense and ball handling. As I watched yesterdays came and saw us comeback (3's) I was thinking we have Ball, Karaban (now back in the groove) and Liam (all good perimeter shooters) along with Hass (experienced guard) and the two headed center of Big Hoss and Samson. That's going to look OK going into the last few weeks and NCAA. And then they just unraveled.

I'm not sure now which team (or both) I really saw yesterday so I'll watch the drama unfold day by day and see where it goes.

It's in the staff and players hands now (as always).

Making the tournament. '22 (and maybe even '21) were better than this team and couldn't get a single win. Not expecting this team to do any better

This place has gotten very funny very quickly. What’s the ven diagram of people saying after Creighton that we were a sleeper final four team with those now saying they just hope we get a bid and don’t embarrass ourselves? A circle?

We don’t do anything halfway around here.

Gotta agree - Sweet 16 feels like the ceiling for this team, but we could go farther if we manage to gel and things break our way. Either way it's gonna be us vs. the world in every game.

Seems like UConn's always fared better in the big dance tourney than in the conference regular season meat grinder.

I said don’t embarrass ourselves because yesterday’s game was embarrassing.

I’ll own up to that.
