It’s always useful to have comps. UConn has been so terrible and lost by such large margins it’s been hard to know exactly how bad we are.

Today we lost a competitive game to the best team in the Patriot League. Which means we are a middling Patriot League team.

We are Colgate. We are Lehigh. We are exactly the teams we’ve been recruiting against.

As we set expectations for the rest of the season, frame it as “How would Colgate do in this game?” Because, sadly, there’s no reason to expect this team to perform any better than a .500 Patriot League team in any context.

But, hey, at least we know who we are.

but now that Randy has “his guys”, the next decision ought to be pretty clinical.

UConn should still be 1-AA/FCS....good game today but Holy Cross was just the better program....stick to hoops (as we should have) and reel back on football

we knew who we were last season when the players begged to cancel the season.

HC was the much bettah team today....it is what it is.....we should have been in the Big East, but it is what it is....good luck against Purdue
I understand HC doesn't have much going for it these days but there was a day not long ago when UMass couldn't even get past midfield in East Hartford. Their fans had their jaws dropped on the way out.

HC has pretty much owned UConn historically in football.....par for the course today

yeah they are the better team, but I don’t think for second that we need to downgrade. Again, screw you.

I am happy for you. It seems like you have really poor self esteem and this makes you feel better about yourself.

Good for you!

FCS is a death sentence for your AD. It would be fine if you never played FBS Ball, but you did and everyone would view it as your AD waving the white flag. FBS Football is still the bell cow of all college sports. Nobody gives a about Holy Cross in anything including FCS Football.

The problem is obvious. The control freak standing on the sideline who can't recruit and has either zero idea how to or the desire to modernize his program. I'm sorry for you guys., I really am, but the power is within your hands. Fire his ass. Fire all of the coaches including his kid who only looks credible as a recruiter by comparison to the others and start over.

Go get a high achieving offensive minded coach from FCS or from the coordinator ranks. Run system football i.e. Air Raid, Option, whatever covers up for deficiencies in talent and go win some games. 3 yards and a cloud of dust isn't going to work when you are doing it with low level G5/FCS Caliber Kids. Tear the bandaid off and let Moysenko or Giuffre run out the string.

FWIW Colgate lost at BC 51-0 today, which seems about like how we would have performed.

Dude, give it up. Your team beat one of the worst teams in FBS history. We're historically bad and we know it already.

Congrats on your win. You had your fun, now run along.

11 years ago today, UConn was playing Michigan on ABC.

UConn beat a Steve Spurrier coached South Carolina Team in a Bowl Game.

They went to Bowl Games which even if your season was 7-6, it meant your season was successful.

The “UCONN’s a basketball school” isn’t exactly right.

Problem is, with all the uncertainty of what’s to come with CFB, they’re probably going to be on the outside looking in but so will a lot of other schools. They’ve got to find some success so when that new 2nd Tier is created, they are at least included there.

Indeed. But the financial commitment we make is far beyond what Colgate or Lehigh makes.... this is simply unsustainable
