Was just noticing that Uconn's five starters all score in double figures and should maintain that at this point through the end of the season. What I had not realized, and would probably be the first time in Uconn history and quite possibly in NCAA D1 history, is that all five starters could end the year with double figures in assists!
Moriah and Kia are already there with 148 and 102 respectively
Stewart will join them shortly as she is at 97
Morgan and Kaleena have some work to do and may fall short Morgan at 83 currently and KML at 80.

I see individual PGs on some teams with staggering numbers of assists, but like some players averaging in the high 20s for points on other teams, Uconn really does spread both scoring and assists around. They lead the country in both categories as a team, but do not have a top ten player in either.

to add to the above. Moriah need 37 points and 15 rebounds, and Kia needs 63 points for all 5 starters to have 400 points, 100 rebounds and 100 assists.

I assume you mean triple figures? ;)

I noticed that yesterday the team as a whole had an assist to turnover ratio of better than 3:1. That's a superb number from designated ballhandlers/playmakers. For an entire team to operate on that level is almost beyond belief.

Not sure if you are talking about for the game, but for the season the team is at about 1.75 A/TO. That is a great number and interestingly not far off the numbers specific 'legendary' PGs at Uconn achieved for their careers. Kia is probably close to a record A/TO ratio for a freshman as she is flirting with 2.0 and Mariah is continuing her 3 to 1 ratio from last year.

Different eras, etc. but Uconn has become an even better passing team over the years.

Just wanted to revisit this after last night and Morgan getting 8:
Assist numbers for starters:
Moriah: 164
Breanna: 107
Kia: 106
Morgan: 96
Kaleena: 89

(Chong 73)

Uconn set a team record last year with 850 assists. They have 740 right now this year with only 5 games to play and will likely fall a few assists short of that mark in one fewer game. Last year four of 5 starters finished with 100+ assist with KML (who missed 12 games) contributing 'only' 72. This year they could quite possibly end with all five starters in triple figures which I think would likely be a team if not6 NCAA record. Geno's dream team that shoots 54% and every scorer is also an excellent passer?

EDIT - All of the starters are shooting over 50%:
M .580
B .540
K .504
M .606
K .538

Well - Morgan moved over 100 assists and Kaleena closed the gap nicely and sits at 93 with hopefully four more games coming.
Meanwhile on the rebounding numbers Moriah has reached 100 so all five starters have 100 rebounds and our second and third leading rebounders are Kiah and Gabby so seven total players with 100+

And Kia has refined her shooting touch and is closing in on 400 points needing 34 more to reach the 400 mark an average of 8.25 if we get four more games.

And Moriah needs 11 steels to reach 100 - doubt she gets there and she will not reach 200 assists as she is sitting at 169 and would need to average 8/gm if we reach the final.

Still a great statistical year for Uconn both personally and as a team. At this point I think they have pretty well locked up a new NCAA and team record for MOV, are flirting with a team record for shooting percentage, defense, defensive shooting percentage, total assist, blocks per game.
