Two well written articles that dive into the growth of the football program and what it is facing to grow in the future. Both articles are by Chris Elsberry of the CT Post. I do not agreed with many of the comments provided by the so called experts, but coach PP has a number of quotes throughout the article that are interesting.

We should be getting press in Fairfield County. The basketball teams do.

Anyone want to take bets on how long it will take for Rutgers to make a Rosé Bowl?

Rosé? They now have a bowl game dedicated to cheap, blended wine?

Yeah, that would be Autocorrect from my phone. LOL. It does sound more appropriate for Rutgers though, doesn't it?

I could see them in the Boone's Farm Bowl:
Strawberry Hill: This sneaky bastard looks inoffensively pale pink and smells mild enough, but it tastes overwhelmingly of Welch's strawberry soda, with a sleazy little edge that whispers, "Dude, don't worry, 16's legal in this state!"

"According to scout.com, since 2002, the state of Connecticut has produced a total of two five-star recruits -- Aaron Hernandez of Bristol Central and Silas Redd of the King School in Stamford -- and nine four-star recruits: John Sullivan (Greenwich), Lamart Barrett (Avon Old Farms), J.J. Justice (Norwich Free Academy), Bruce Campbell (Hyde), Torrey Mack (Stratford), Mike Cox (Avon Old Farms), Khairi Fortt (Stamford), Bjoern Werner (Salisbury) and Graham Stewart (Xavier).
None went to UConn."

Of course, Conn. has many bonafide NFL players in the league, some of them doing really really well, so you have to question this star system.

Kids like Niko Koutivides and John Moffitt got no play whatsoever.

At least we got G Stewart back...

All jokes aside, being totally boxed in and isolated regionally, while our conference rivals have moved on to the ACC and Big Ten is disastrous. Maybe we survive our no man's land situation for a season or two, after that we will be at a serious disadavantage relative to the schools in our area. It is why getting snubbed in favor of Louisville was so hurtful. Our coaches are going to be selling conference games against Tulane and Memphis, while SU is selling Florida State, RU is selling Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State.

At this point, I'd tell the Big 12, they can have one of our home games a year in Boston or New York every year if it bought us a ticket out of the Big East. Yeah, its that desperate.

It would fit right in with the cast of Jersey Shore.
