Parker chose to make sure she was healthy and ready to go for her Euroleague team.  Good for her.  USA BB made a choice as well.  No preferential treatment, no player is more special than another.  If you're going to choose not to play in the world championships, then USA BB can choose not to put you on the Olympic team.   That seems fair to the many players who didn't pass on the world championships.
