She declined which was her right to do.  To quote Candace's father, USA BB "owned" its decision and felt no pressure to explain.  USA BB moved on and didn't sweat or regret its decision one bit.  The team won gold and played exceptional basketball, perhaps the best any USA team has every played.  From all accounts, it was an exceptional experience for all involved.
