They appear to be halfway there, with $16 out the estimated $30 million.

Will it all need to come from private donations, or can they tap into the university's endowment for something like this?

There are a couple of things that jump out at me here.

JC and Geno won't be here forever, so it would be so fitting for it to be built on the heels of all their HUGE accomplishments.

I also think it's a great point about taking advantage of the positive results on the hardwood and turning it into something positive for uconn academically. Need to capitalize!

It's all coming from private donations. And from what I understand, they don't need the full $30M to get the shovel in the ground. There's a certain threshold that will allow them to start the construction - which typically leads to an additional money boost.

The importance of this facility, by the way, cannot be overstated. If there's any advantage to being somewhat late to the "practice facility game", it's that we have a chance to see what other schools did and make ours even better.

UConn's endowment is pretty pathetic actually, so there is no way they could or should do this.
