Stanford's women hadn't lost at Maples Pavilion since the Bush Administration. That was a good 1 ½ years before economists talked about a "Great Recession."
But all the good times ended Saturday as the Cardinal's impressive 82-game home win streak came to a deafening halt in front of a sold-out crowd of 7,329.

UConn upsets #1 Stanford

The economy may have been recession, but the Stanford fans are now in a depression.

This type of game will rarely be high scoring. Stanford only had 14 TOs and UConn only had 7, that's right seven, TOs for the game. This cuts down breakouts tremendously and limits points in transition.

The shooting percentages might have had something to do with it...lol.

Part of the reason for lower shooting %s is the lack of those transition points on high % shots like lay ups.

7 TOs is astounding.

Rebecca noted the other day that she had seen Baylor, Stanford and UConn in person and she believed that UConn was the strongest of the three. Today the proof was in the pudding.
