Around the NCAA - weekend of 12/14

looking like seton hall was one of the most overrated teams in the country. only 2 NBE teams gonna be ranked this week
SH could end up around an #8/9 seed and fully healthy by March. They will get shipped out to Spokane and play Gonzaga in the 2nd Round. Seton Hall +6.5/-310 ML in that game. That could be an upset.

8-9 would be a total failure when they were being talked about as a final 4 team with POY candidate powell throughout the preseason. they could still get a higher seed but need to finish in the top 4 of the NBE

NBE Tourney teams:
1. Nova
2. Butler
3. Xavier
4. Hall
5. Marquette/Creighton/Depaul???

They would sign up for an 8-9 seed right now. With Powell out and Sandro out for two months they have a guaranteed loss next game against Maryland. That will be 5 losses heading into Big East play with their second best player gone for 2 months.

Kevin Willard is just not a big time coach. He picks up too many bad losses despite having really good teams, ends up with a lousy seed, and gets bounced in the first weekend of the Tournament. Wash, rinse, repeat.
And he hasn't parlayed that huge Isaiah Whitehead Angel Delgado class into any further recruiting juice.

Is this the year the Zags win it all??? They sure looked good against AZ.
As much as I despise Miller and Zona, they almost came back and won that game
If it had been played later in the season with the same players - Zona would probably win
Zags are banged up-IF they had full squad this game would not have been close
With full squads - Zags are better

Houston loses to Ok st at home. Ok state without Littleton and we’re 0-2 without him prior to this game

Is Drexel the Philadelphia school that is too irrelevant to be one of the Big 5?

They've been unsuccessfully shopping this

Ohio state getting blown out by a terrible Minnesota team losing the #1 overall spot before they were given it. 2019 college basketball is totally unpredictable. No one is safe. Memphis at full strength might be the best team.

Big 5 started in 1955 and Drexel didn't become division 1 until 1973. I guess once things get established they just kind of stick.

We have been giving Hurley a beating the last few days for some players' shot selection, but I can just imagine what UNC fans must be doing to Williams right now. They looked like a mediocre playground team. Their fundamentals are terrible, with basics like entry passes to the post being an adventure.

It will be a shame if we don’t win the national Championship this year the way things are going. Wasted opportunity to steal a banner in a totally level playing field.

Good post. Oregon is a team to watch too for championship consideration.

The bigger the game, the better Payton Pritchard plays. Juiston is an elite rebounder. Mathis is a knock down shooter. Frontcourt was their biggest weakness but now top freshman N'Faly Dante is eligible. Add Duarte/Richardson/Okoro to the mix and that's an excellent veteran top 7 plus three more highly recruited freshmen on top of that.

There is no favorite to win the natty right now. Heck I don’t know who you even put at 1! Kansas?!

Love their talent, but my concern with Kansas: who's their steady guard in a close game?

I don't trust Dotson or Garrett as their point guards. Who's the last team to win the NCAA without a true lead PG?

A few weeks ago, you could make the same claim for Gonzaga, but Joel Ayayi is playing incredibly lately. Had a huge summer playing for the French national team and he parlayed that into the starting PG job, taking it away from two talented grad transfers.
