O.K. What's the skinny on the Hogs. Athlon has there recruiting class ranked very high. 3 recruits at 22,35,54 and a few others outside the top 100. Anderson a Nolan Richardson disciple said he doesn't have the horses for 40 minutes of hell but can give you 25 minutes. Didn't they lose one of their better players earlier in the year? Does anybody have their record and know who they have played?

They lost their leading scorer to injury a couple weeks ago. They're 5-1 but haven't really played anybody. Lost to Houston by 9. Best win was a blowout over a pretty decent Oakland team. Very good freshman class like you mentioned, including a kid we recruited - Ky Madden.

Just couldn't take anymore of the Syracuse situation. So sounds like we got ourselves a game come Sat. Oakland is a good team and if they blew them out that speaks for itself.

Losing Marshawn Powell was a blow for them ... but they still have a lot of talent.

They don't turn the ball over, about 12 a game since Powell went down, and they average about 16 assists a game, almost the reversal of UConn (12 assists and 16 turnovers). they also average over 10 steals a game, so UConn will have to take care of the ball. This is a young and hungry team that is looking for the "signature" win. It should be a good game. They play 9 guys and no one over 30 minutes, so we are not going to wear them down. I'm sure that this team will be focused on Saturday. The cupcake games are over!

I posted on here a while back. Can't wait for the game. I'm attending. As far as how the game will play out, I think my team could be n for a blow out. I think our only chance is to get this into a track meet. I'm sure you guys have athletes to do that just as well as us, but IF we have a shot it will be in an up-tempo game. We are just too small inside. If my Hogs can force 17+ turnovers and limit our own, we have a shot. However, a young team in their first road test of the season against the defending national champs? It's gonna be tough. None the less, can't wait to see it regardless of the outcome.

Best shot to beat UConn: play zone

We mix in quite a bit of zone. The thing is, we already have a tough time rebounding due to our size. Compound that with playing zone and we may get toasted on the boards. Probably will regardless, but our man defense has been outstanding on the ball. I'm sure we'll see both.

Dang - HogFather. A long, long time ago - about seven incarnations of the Boneyard ago - we had a potential match-up with Arkansas in the Sweet 16, and the Hog fans invaded the week before to tell us how they were going to whoop us real good and how nothing could prepare for us for the 40 minutes of hell we were about to get (we were the #1 seed and Arkansas was #4). It was a relentless wave of smack talk, which would have been all fine and dandy, except that the Razorbacks lost to #5 Iowa in the second round, and then the wave receded back into nothingness. It was one the few times we all rooted for a team (Iowa) just for the sake of keeping the Boneyard readable. Now here you are, popping by all classy with legitimate hooops talk. You keep at it, and you're going to ruin your fan base's reputation here!

Haha, ah I was just a young pup then. About 10. I remember that Iowa game though. That team for us underachieved massively, otherwise we would have whooped that ass ;)

It's kind of crazy this is only our 3rd game against each other. I would have thought we would have met up in the NCAAs a few times in our histories. As it stands we have just played in Maui one year and an early game in the 90s. Maybe the preseason NIT? Not sure.

Consolation game of 1997 Postseason NIT (they don't even do the consolation game anymore). That was a big tournament for us in the sense that it was Rip Hamilton's training wheels. He went off in that tourney, just like he went off in the big boy tourney two years later.

Hey all. Hogfather, it's good to see ya brother. This is big game for us. Huge measuring stick for our season. Hope we can keep it close if not pull the upset. We are going to run, no doubt about that. Look forward to the game.

I would not be worried about a blowout if I was a razorback fan . We have not blown anybody out from Coppin to Columbia and everybody else in between.

The guys need to perfect winning time this year sans Kemba! I still lay in bed thinking of the UCF game :(.

I'm looking forward to this game a lot. I grew up watching cbball in the mid 80s, just when Arkansas started to rise with Richardson. Even thought they've been down for a bit, I still respect the jersey.

Guys like Daniels and Lamb are in a good position. Doesn't look like they have anyone who can really match up size-wise with them. Here's hoping the big men show up and this isn't another close one.

We are glad to have our brand of basketball back. We have a nice group of freshman to build on. It's been a rough 10-12 years for hog basketball but under Mike Anderson it will be restored.

Your frontcourt will definitely have the advantage. Our starters are serviceable. Nobles is a good defender and so is Wade. We probably have our best player coming off the bench in BJ Young. It won't be long before he breaks into the starting lineup though. What we lack in size we make up for in effort and forcing turnovers. We will have to make shots and keep the gap on the boards small. I can't wait for this game. We got a young team and have no idea what they are capable of.

Welcome to the boards. I have a feeling this won't be a blowout. We're averaging something like 16 turnovers a game, and we only have 3 scholarship guards on the roster.

Youth and size are our challenges. We have 4 freshman that will be well known in a year or two. We have a 6'10 forward that can shoot and has decent moves around the bucket. He can also block shots but he's still figuring out rebounding at this level. Abron is our "bruiser" but he's really raw and doesn't have much length. He's only 6'8. Lamb vs Young will be a good matchup to watch.

Right when Ark started falling off is when Uconn started rising up... Doesn't surprise me we haven't met many times
