A former assistant at Oral Roberts during their 2021 March Madness run, Arkansas-Pine Bluff head coach Solomon Bozeman has his most talented and efficient offensive unit in his three year tenure.

Known last season as one of the better defensive teams in the SWAC and a poorer offensive team, the roles have swapped early this season. However, the Golden Lions’ tough D1 schedule does soften their rough defensive analytics.

That being said, there is true offensive talent on this team, as the backcourt combination of Williams, French and Milton can all score in bunches. With this group, Bozeman runs a 4-out, 1-in offense that predicates tempo, attacking the rim and shooting threes.

Soloman Bozeman’s best offensive group, former assistant at Oral Roberts during 2021’s March Madness run.

On defense, Bozeman splits his defensive philosophy between denying passing lines and protecting driving opportunities, but during more appropriate competition they are trying to force turnovers while staying conservative in blocking off driving lanes. Bozeman wants to keep opponents away from the paint, but that’ll be nearly impossible against UConn.

At the very least, Arkansas-Pine Bluff’s offensive weapons should make them a slightly more competitive opponent than MVSU. Noting this, this game is a huge opportunity to run Clingan and Castle to grow their conditioning while also allowing more time for our younger weapons to grow. Good chance nine or ten Huskies can get minutes in the double-digits.

I hope you are right and the bench gets a lot of run.
I am naive when it comes to high level D1 coaching. However, I've always thought one of the harder things would be to keep top 100 (even top 150) recruits happy and engaged - with limited minutes.

Good analysis but I prefer resting Clingan to running him.

Yea honestly, I would be 100% fine with him not playing a minute & resting his feet. Same goes for Cam.

Assuming Castle's knee is feeling good, give him 15-20min max to shake the rust off in prep for the Zags.

Bring the exercise bike over to the side of the bench and Big Don can get some good conditioning in spinning which watching the game.

Apostolos & Singare should play 10+ minutes in this game!

Yeah would love to get the young guys going some more in this one. Let Solo get some more time running the show and building that confidence there to build on last game.

It does seem like in the few instances he and Castle are on the court together he does play more intentionally. Seem to have good chemistry together.

I hope this is a good game to get Karaban building on his second half against UNC. He should be able to shoot and finish over his defender.

Would like to see Stewart and/or Ross get some time. Castle needs to knock the rust off. I don't know if DC needs rest more than conditioning. Cam should rest with Castle back and let Solo play at SG more.

Would like to see...

...productive minutes from Stewart and Ross
...Castle and Ball together in the backcourt
...Samson dominate inside
...Singare get some time behind Samson
...Newton, Karaban and Diarra provide ballast as needed
...Clingan and Spenser be rested totally.

Definitely DO NOT want see a repeat of the UNH game -- continual feeding of Clingan inside resulting in a completely discombobulated offense. Hurt us against UNH (20-pt win) and hurt us going into the Kansas game.

15th in offensive tempo. Looks like 90+ for the good guys.
In the 90s is actually a conservative guesstimate.

Four of their six D1 opponents have scored 100+: Missouri, Incarnate Word, Oklahoma and Gonzaga.

Your dedication is amazing.

Seriously.

Keys to game.

UConn: show up. Play 3, 4 or 5 players most of the game.

UAPB: Do whatever you want. Watch clips of Globetrotters. Know your roll. Cash the check.

I'm resting Karaban and Spencer as much as possible. Watch Clingan carefully. Give minutes to Stewart and Ross. Play Castle for conditioning.

Get a massive lead and sit Karaban, Clingan, Spencer, and Newton. Get Castle minutes to get back in the flow and then sit him.

Gonzaga was up 28-2 on these guys to open on Tuesday night even with putting like their 3rd guy off the bench into the starting lineup for experience purposes. They were bad, like really bad. Should be no reason to play Clingan, Cam, and Castle more than like 12-15 minutes a piece.

I only leave Tristen off that list because he might be on triple-double watch again and might need 22-25 to achieve that...

No reason the starters shouldn't be well rested for that long ass flight to Seattle...
