Arkansas (20) @ California - 11/24/29

Arkansas with only a one pt lead with 4min left in half.

Arkansas's lack of size is biting them early. The 3's aren't falling either.

While I believe Arkansas is a good team. The philosophy of run and gun with shooting a lot of 3's with little size in the paint isn't something that will win consistently.

This is where I'm at with them too. They can be a dangerous team if they are hitting 3s, or they can go through droughts when the 3s aren't falling. It's risky to be too reliant on the 3 and not have any size to get easy layups and rebound.

It worked for Neighbors at Washington, but Osahor helped make up for the lack of size and Plum was Plum.

Cal is up 6 in the 3rd quarter. Bears trying to make UConn's win against them look better.

.-.
I’m at the game it’s 3rd quarter. I don’t know how Dungee has the patience she has with the ball hog turnover prone teammates of hers. So many unforced poor decisions. Dungee never reacts to these knuckleheads. Cal is playing as a team. Hogs aren’t. Brown too much for Hogs. End of 3 Cal 70 Hogs 64.
This # 24 freshman Lutje Schipholt (6’2” from Netherlands) is tremendous inside. She can run like a deer too.

Seems like Arkansas doesn’t have much of a bench.

I might have to adjust my expectations for Cal this year. I thought they were going to be way down.

Actually the back up pg Gailden is making better decisions (6 assists) than Daniels (zip assists 4 to’s). Usually Gaulden is a gunner and doesn’t hustle. She has today. Daniels is a huge ball hog though very talented. Tolefree and Ramirez pass up easy kick outs all day for contested drives. Dungee would have 35 (and won) if they looked to her.
Score is 82-80 :05 left and refs don’t call an obvious over the back on Cal.
They call jump ball Bears win.

Man the SEC is bad this year, just send 3-4 teams to the tourney and let the rest sit home.

Nah they'll still get 7 or 8. It's an NCAA bylaw.

Was Arkansas's ranking purely from their run in the SECT last year? Don't get me wrong they aren't bad but are they really a top 25 team?

Oh man, this makes Rutgers win over Harvard look better. :)

I think that combined w/ the NIT, but I still can't figure out why Arizona wasn't ranked (and still isn't) after winning the NIT and bringing back pretty much everybody.

Probably because Arkansas added Ramirez, and she was a former top-15 recruit/McDAA. Stuff like that goes a long way when ranking, even though it shouldn’t.

She was a highly rated recruit, but her 2 years at TCU were underwhelming.

Cal looked incredibly well coached. More fundamentally strong than I’ve ever seen them. Very nice balance of players. Everyone looks for each other and plays all facets. Hogs, total opposite. Fundamentally horrid. Dungee the exception.

WBB you don’t have to be that good to be 15-25. They are pretty much the same.

Arkansas has to recruit more size. They don't have much to fall back on when the 3's aren't falling.

@tazmaz your posts keep disappearing. Are you editing yourself or is someone else editing you?

I am haha! I thought I was posting too much

I think we're free to go..ahem...hog wild in the non-UConn forum, as long as it's not lewd or attacking other posters.

Three Bears has double/doubles
Lutje 11/10, Brown 30/12, West 14/12
Cal had 49-32 rebounding edge and it was quite apparent at the game
