Arizona Post Game Thread

I questioned one specific part, that doesn’t indicate anything you’re talking about.

I posted a video of the team we’re talking about doing post-practice weight lifting sessions IN DIRECT RESPONSE to you saying with snark that you never lifted and you can’t believe I think basketball teams lift.

This was your post:
“I played for one of the best HS programs in the state and we never lifted weights. We did mostly calisthenics for strength building. Offseason and during the season.

Weight lifting is not needed to play basketball and if you do it you aren't lifting like football players.

I don't know why I have to explain something like this to someone else who also was suppose to have played basketball before.”

You asked if he was lifting to bulk or cut, which is not really a thing for basketball. You then mentioned whether he lifted heavy right before he shot…as though any of that is relevant. That’s not how D1 (or even HS) programs lift.

You’re now talking about basketball teams NOT LIFTING AT ALL.

How do you not follow your own posts?

I’m posting a linear commentary. You said stuff that was questionable so I questioned it. As always you double triple and quadruple down to the point you’re now saying waaaaay more than originally. And it’s now even more questionable.

Basketball players and teams lift weights and solo is almost certainly following specific basketball training guidelines.

So no, him lifting heavy is more than likely not the reason he is shooting poorly. And yes, every basketball team I’ve ever been around or followed has lifted in season and offseason, with weights.

I’m assuming you’re trolling at this point. Or just have a very poor ability to follow a linear conversation.
Dude, you are literally talking to a wall….whatever you say to this guy is just gonna bounce back to you in some jumbled up version of the same nonsense. Logic definitely does not work.

It was fairly obvious to those of us with eyes and a brain that he (McNeeley) wasn’t fully healthy the entire season.
Soooooo, is that what we are gonna be saying all season about Mullins and/or Reed? The entire point of my points is that maybe it's worth a look at UConn's preseason training because they are finding themselves handicapped at the beginning of the season with leg injuries.

At the end of the day, this game is going to make us a lot better. Lets draw up a lot of sets for Reibe against Bryant (wow), and get ready for Illinois and Kansas.

Oh and P.S. Plz shoot a million free throws in practice. That was the worst shooting from the stripe in a while.
To be fair, the FT misses were primarily Koroma and Reibe. Would be nice if they made them, but not surprising that they didn't.

I know, it’s useless. I tried to be as thorough as possible and he still had a * sigh * response when he’s clearly the one talking in circles.

“Yall gotta be trolling” no you literally can’t follow a conversation and you change the point every single post.

He’ll also argue that basketball was better in 2004 than it is today, till he’s blue in the face. But of course he knows better than a legendary coach like Pitino.

How’s that Marquette system looking this year? Development!!! Play freshmen at all costs!

People must realize the players today are so much more talented.

No they're not.

Or will fans be making excuses for him like they did for McNeeley? That's all we heard (except for Creighton game) last season excuses regarding his leg injury.
Excuses? Every analyst with credibility said we used him too much to do more tha. he should have - desperate PG times meant he brought the ball down sometimes and initiated plays. He was a scoring option at or higher than Alex so I really son’t see “excuses”

.-.

He's right on the sheer volume of international players but none of them look like stars and none of these teams look like they're going to be memorable teams. Almost all the top players are freshmen, incredibly talented class but they're still freshmen. Sam Vecenie is showing his age.

I know what you're saying about him getting grabbed but he simply has to find ways to contribute when things aren't going his way, he doesn't like the matchups/the way the game is being called. We saw him become a ghost too many times in big games last season and he was a ghost again last night. He has to at least make his presence known and mix it up, draw fouls, get some tough rebounds etc. There's no excuse for him to get just 3 rebounds (all defensive) in 35 minutes of play when we don't have Reed available.
Rebounding = 1) get position
2) box out
3) grab and hold onto ball

This how even smaller players get rebounds. No excuses.

Silas tried to wrestle the ball away from a much bigger Peat, yeah I think he has some Cam in him. He is the guy I'd want with the ball in a big spot. He had a chance last night, but threw it away. It happens.

And of course we could have won - we were up 64-63 with 1:15 to go. We could not execute offensively at all in that last two minutes. The killer defensively was Krivas getting that loose ball offensive rebound through Stewart. That put back put them up 65-64. We get that, we are up 1, can take the clock down to about 38 seconds. We somehow score there, 3 pt shooting isn't their strength. That was the bucket that felt like it swung a bit - and just a boneheaded play as the ball was right there to snag.
boneheaded is a bit rough. The ball missed the rim entirely and those can be difficult if you don’t read it, because you’re on your toes, ready to react to where the ball caroms off the rim and jump for it … and then suddenly it’s in your lap. He needed better hands or better instincts, but it wasn’t like he made a bad decision.

If you never had this happen to you on a ball that missed everything and came hard off the backboard you haven’t played much.

Yeah, not the right term. Awareness lacking is more it. Sure, not the easiest rebound, but one that was important and a kid with an eye for the ball gets.

So do nothing? Just accept that UConn's top recruits will begin each season on the sidelines? Ignore that these preseason injuries just seem to coincidentally affect UConn players?

BYU is better than Arizona, IMO.
BYU definitely does something AZ doesn't, hit 3s. Saunders can rip them, was 5-9 tonight - that kid will find himself onto an NBA roster, even through he's already 37 years old. I'll argue that we don't know how good AZ will be as they are still very young.
