Arizona Post Game Thread

Never been a big proponent of moral victories but this game will help us down the road. Obviously Reibe is going to benefit the most.

But on the flip side Ball and AK having bad games is not ideal.

We almost beat them and we played poorly with two starters out of the game and two of our major role players having bad games. You see the difference between role players and go to star players.

I think we will see Reibe for two years but by the end of next year I think he is a monster and going to the NBA. But pairing him now as Reed’s back up is going to give us a big edge on most teams at the center position.

I guess we won’t be seeing much from Furphy this year, I liked what I saw of him during the FIFA games but he must not be practicing too well. Has to be defense as the player I have seen has a high BBIQ offensively.

This game reinforced two things to me is that we are better defensively and we will be very good this year if we can get and stay healthy.

The Bradley miss and we couldn’t get the rebound and their big got an easy out back. Then the Demery has the biggest turnover of the game. That was it.

Incredibly disappointed that we couldn’t hold that lead which the guys fought so hard to regain. If only Stewart didn’t lose that defensive rebound while we were up. But… to ight showed me that with a complete team on the floor, we handle Arizona.

To be honest, felt like a miracle they lost by only 4 and were leading with a little over a minute left. Look at the boxscore. Left a lot of points at the line too. Mostly Reibe and Koroma but even Karaban was 3-5 with a miss on the front end of a one and one.

Just get healthy and move on. Have some other tough ones coming up.
We'll have the best team in the country when we're healthy.

Obviously upset that we lost a winnable game but overall not too worried about it.We got significantly outplayed for about 5 minutes to start the second half. For the other 35 minutes it was pretty even while missing our starting center and our 5* freshman

We got outrebounded by 20. I’m okay chalking that up to missing Tarris and moving on

We missed 9 FTs in a 4 point loss. That’s a big one. 7 of those 9 misses were Reibe (33% FT shooter) and Koroma (49% career FT shooter). I know what they’ll be working on tomorrow

Solo has a buy game to find his shot. He’s really struggled from three and now it feels like he’s rushing and losing confidence (hunting for fouls). But that midrange is money

Silas is the real deal. He’s going to be so good.

Shoutout Reibe. He was thrown in a really difficult position tonight. He certainly had his mistakes but he was growing up in real time. Buying stock on him

Shrug and move on. That was a fun game to watch. Let’s go Huskies!

Crushed in rebounding and shooting 50% free throws and still had a chance to win.

Even if he didn't have the stats I think I'd be a fan of Silas because of his attitude, there is no backing down.

Smith is a good backup PG. People need to lay off.
Riebe is a good (and rapidly improving) backup C.
This team has all the ingredients.
What I don't like is how easy it was for AZ to mitigate AK. Then of course Solo didn't make them pay.
Whenever we attacked the paint, our offense looked good. When we swung it around waiting for AK or Solo to shake loose, we stalled.

A lot of good tape, proud of the guys for not folding down 13. Changes nothing. 100% championship material.

Reibe and Stew were the only two bright spots from this game.

Karaban, Solo and Demary Jr were no show tonight. Which can't happen, especially with Reed out.

Onward and upward.

Love what I saw from Reibe, though. The bench is going to cause problems once we get Mullins and Reed back.

We win with Reed, there’s no way they beat us that badly in the paint if he’s there. Solo hurt us tonight, especially with that terrible 3 up 1 when we had the momentum. Really can’t wait to see us fully healthy
Yes a really bad three, but he hit some nice pull-up jump shots

Malachi brought a spark defensively when he came in with 5:42 left and we were down by 6. In the four minutes he played we then went up by 2.
I understand why Demary was brought back in but maybe we don’t get out scored 8-3 to end the game if Smith stayed in…who knows.

Well what a hell of a game. Fought and battled to the end. Down TWO starters. Up 1 late, Solo misses a dagger 3, then Silas turns it over on the next possession... I honestly thought anything better than a 10 point loss was a moral victory. These guys will be DANGEROUS when healthy.

Really great game and experience for Reibe. This will pay dividends in BE play and come March/April... But come on - 50% from the FT line??? I get it was mostly our 2 centers, so something to work on...

Never like to lose, but if there was one game that I think we can pretty much all stomach, this was it.
No moral victories, this is UConn!

Arizona did what top 5 teams are supposed to do; take advantage an injured team. Actually Reed being out was a blessing in disguise. Riebe became a Man tonight.

On paper this will show a loss but actually it wasn't. Much was revealed about our team handling adversity this game, as Reed seemingly was late decision.

I have no complaints, because I saw something tonight in our team against a worthy opponent.

Neither Reed nor Mullins were the reason we didn't win. FREE THROWS. Period.
