What was supposed to be a strength has been wildly inconsistent thus far (yes I know we’re 10-1). A better team (than Texas) maybe gets us tonight because Solo seem like a fraction of himself and the two point guards don’t look like they’re in control of our offense. Time to start piling up consistent outings.

Offensively, yes.

I think Solo is better on defense this year and Demary and Mali are good defenders usually.

Smith had 9 assists off the bench and Mullins is a tremendous talent. Our guards are just fine, although the free throw shooting certainly needs a major upgrade.

Our free throw shooting needs to be much better, especially from the guards. I don’t mind turnovers when guys are trying to make plays, but there were a lot of bad turnovers tonight that didn’t necessarily result from great defense.

PG spot is our weakest link but they aren’t terrible. There’s a decent chance, one of the two will play well enough.

Malachi 9 assists Silas 5, good days work
Silas just doesn’t know what to do yet
Malachi better I think because of aggressiveness
In the chat someone mentioned Silas demeanor was “hangdog”. He is anything but, kid was exuberant when we put them away while he was pine surfing. I think he is super serious on the court and is just thinking through every moment. Once he starts playing instinctually and start to enjoy himself more and be more successful. It will take a while.

Silas is in a 5-game funk since his triple double. Looked totally lost out there tonight. Continues to get himself in foul trouble. Color me concerned but not worried.

Smith just needs to lock in his FT shooting. Other than that he’s been a huge plus.

Yes.....If winning our 7th National Title is the goal this year then Yes. Our back court has to be the strength of our team if we are going to make a serious run. As it stands currently, our back up point guard is our best option. This issue is also the reason why we haven't been able to create the separation from these teams that we should based on the talent that we have. The '23 and '24 teams would put those magical runs together, multiple a game to create separation and close out games.

Let's see how this looks by February. As it stands now, Silas is getting in his own way and it needs to stop. He should relax, and take what the defense gives him. With that talent around him there is no need for him to force anything. Once he starts doing this, his confidence will improve.

I’m only worried about the lack of separation they get. They are great passers and our offense is fully predicated on passing, so it’s not a huge worry. But, when we get in a funk and someone needs to simply create something, we don’t have that guy who can go 1v1 to get a shot.

Very concerned about our guard play. Ball still cannot guard a chair and is useless when not hitting his threes. Our PG doesn’t contribute much offensively and they both can’t shoot. Not sure if this is a title team. Guard play is very suspect .
