Not the ACC, but I agree about the other three.Fair - although it's clearly a step below the real power conferences.

I hope there's one poster on here (who shall remain nameless) that isn't reading this thread. His head may explode.Fair - although it's clearly a step below the real power conferences.
Don't think Shizz is positive or irrational. Just calls it like he sees it. Not a "sky is falling" guy. Always seems to have facts. I see his stuff as best case and worst case scenario analysis. He is, as are all of us, disappointed in some of our traditional strong programs(Marquette, Creighton), happy for Seton Hall, pissed at Pitino and St Johns, see's the skies clearing for Villanova and Xavier, is realistic about Butler, and scratches his head about PC and Georgetown. What is irrational about those takes? Reality is worst case we are a 3 bid league, and best case 5, with a silly Torvik take of 6.I do love your positivity, as irrational as it often gets.
We may get 4-5 teams in because the the tournament needs teams, but make no mistake, these are not teams that have any chance to do a thing. So yes, it nets the BE revenue, but if we get 4 teams in that lose in the first round, not sure how proud a moment that is.
It's not a good league my man. You can spin the numbers however you'd like. Every national media team covering college hoops often uses the term "stinks". Perception is reality as it comes to that view.
This season but it's so difficult to compare an 11 team conference to these mega 16 and 18 team conferences.Fair - although it's clearly a step below the real power conferences.
I'm curious how much UConn has provided in the metrics for the BE these past four years.Don't get me wrong, I am disappointed with the league's performance this year (esp. St. John's, Marquette, and Creighton). However, the Big East is very much a major (power) league in basketball even if it is the weakest. That is my point. As a league, the Big East went 22-28 against the P4. That is power league. We also only lost six games against non-P4 teams (@Gonzaga, N vs. Dayton, and home games vs. Dayton, Boise State, Santa Clara, and Buffalo). My issue is not with those that say the league is down (it is- from two and three years ago- not from last year), it is with those that suggest that it is not a power league when all metrics say that it is (KenPom, NET, Torvik, EvanMiya, Massey, etc.).
If anything I think we have OVERestimated the league
If I were to tier out the sport this year, this is how it would go:
Tier 1- power leagues:
1A: Big 12, Big Ten, SEC
1B: ACC, Big East
Tier 2- mid majors:
2A: MW, WCC
2B: A-10, MVC, American
There it is.Weird how any posters wish UConn was still in the American.
I get so much joy out of watching you absolutely bend over backwards to try to make the league look good or call me a troll. It makes me giggle. How long are you going to keep up this bit?
The answer is no….its awfulNow that the calendar changes to conference play my attitude on the matter changes dramatically. One week ago I would’ve been saying “3 losses at the most.” Today, my opinion remains the same but with heavier reservations.
For instance, tonight has been penciled in as a win by the oddsmakers (UConn -14.5 or so) but Butler always plays us tough despite never beating us.
Seton Hall is a 2 point loss vs USC out at Maui away from being undefeated.
Providence has some pieces.
Omaha is still Omaha.
Johnnies will be competitive throughout.
We ALWAYS struggle on opening day. Even last year we had to sweat out an OT game in Hartford vs Xavier and Sean Miller.
Tell me I’m just overreacting…
Go Huskies!
Totally, we never should've turned down the Big 10 and SEC.Let’s just be honest - we have outgrown this conference and do not fit well. Only state school. Also have football. Actually perform. On and on. Time to find a new home. I’ll miss the BET at MSG but that’s about it.
We don’t have a new home because no one wants us. The Big East is the only place that wants us.Just don’t understand these folks who think DB hasn’t thought of a new home . They should be sure to suggest it to him.
except...https://www.wtnh.com/news/connecticut/tolland/uconn-announces-record-breaking-enrollment-at-storrs-campus/I don't think anyone hates the BE - likely a little frustrated over the fact it's in a descending pattern that is unlikely to stop (I know some will argue this). Too many factors pointing in the direction that it won't. We're a state school with a FB program in a league of FB-less Catholics, with the best mens/womens hoop program. We're now kinda carrying the league.
I spoke to my niece this week about where her top student friends are applying to college. They're targeting schools like Clemson, Georgia & Tennessee. This is the trend folks. Social Media is driving it. Kids these days are gravitating to big brand state schools in warmer locations, as they see all the culture there as attractive. The football games, the social events, the culture.

big game for bothSlow holiday week for hoops, but Nova @ Seton Hall tomorrow night should be somewhat entertaining.
Posters suggesting we move to a P4 conference as though they just thought of it should be sentenced to reading the entirety of the Conference Realignment Forum from first to last post.We don’t have a new home because no one wants us. The Big East is the only place that wants us.

Show me one post where someone said they wished UConn was back in the AAC - if not stop being insipid about this topic.
The NBE sucks overall in nearly every sport but mens soccer and mens basketball (which has gone downhill over the past few years)
Judging by your reaction score being about 8,000 less than your posts, I think YOU are the troll little Nelson.I actually respect the posters who actually want to be in the AAC, because at least they are honest about it. Worse are the posters who say "no one wants to be in the American, BUT" and then they go on a rant about how terrible the Big East is and how we should get out. Trashing the current situation without having any solution is trolling and cowardice. Since the only other realistic option is the American, it is fair to assume that anyone writing a dead-end, Big East trashing post is calling for a return to the American. Or they are a gutless troll. Their call.
Yeah it's kind of zero sum for the big east as a whole, but massive for those 2, one of the biggest games of the season for each.big game for both
Oh, I'm sure there's other places that want us, just nowhere else we would actually go.We don’t have a new home because no one wants us. The Big East is the only place that wants us.

That must be why I get an average of 7 likes per post on a UConn messgae board right fella? 😆I am guessing you are a Syracuse fan, but several schools are possibilities. Whoever you root for, it definitely is NOT UConn.
I try to be as understanding as possible, but I cannot grasp the idea that any criticism of the current state of the BE leads to a knee-jerk reaction, claiming that it indicates the desire to return to the AAC.
For the big picture, I hope Willard turns into something close to what many have believed he could become, as the only legitimate hope for a second high value brand in this conference is Villanova.
The remaining schools all fall into a category where it's good for the conference when they're doing well, but on a national level, nobody would notice when they aren't, which is where most of the conference currently resides.
The best thing for us to do is accept that it is what it is.
