With all the talk of the coaching changes at UCLA and Minnesota, I was checking out their recruits to see if there might be some players we might poach. Minnesota has nothing special coming next year but as discussed on this board, UCLA has several and I'd take any of them at UCONN (or their freshman this year if they decide to leave). Looking at last year and this year's UCLA recruits, it's amazing how many 4 and 5 stars they signed. It must be the past glory and LA glitz (or something else) that's luring these kids because they aren't exactly hanging many banners these days.

But I digress.....

The subject of this thread is Aquille Carr. I didn't think we were ever really involved with this kid. I read that he had backed out of his commitment to Seton Hall and was now planning to play professional in Italy next year. With that said, I was surprised when I looked at our 2013 prospects to see Aquille Carr's name and that UCONN had offered him. The site says the page was updated on 3/18.

This kid has more baggage than JFK Airport. We shouldn't go near this kid. Does anyone on this board with connections know if we actually offered him and if we are really involved with him after he backed out of his Seton Hall commitment? God, I hope not.

Where does the offer info on the ESPN site come from? Do they just ask kids and run with it?

There was a thread last week on it. ESPN says we offered him, but we never did.

The offer information and school lists found on those sites are not to be taken seriously.

5-6 or not, the kid can play. Can't imagine he would ever get qualified to play in college, and he's got a kid. Hope the europe thing works out for him. Very, very talented player. Not sure why he's being mocked on here.

Why does already having a kid matter? There are lots of good, young parents out there. Stanley had two kids.

It takes a dedicated athlete to regain elite physical form after having a kid. I assume(and since i'm the one doing it i'm correct in assuming) that this is what people are referring to.

But yea i'm not sure about the actual interest from us towards this kid, was fun to watch the little guy on the court though.
