Hassell's ranked 7th at ASGR. The other outlets haven't made lists for '27 yet but she's long been considered an elite prospect. She was at First Night last October.

Rankings for 14/15 year olds mean next to nothing. Geno used to wait until late in a player’s junior year of high school to offer because he said many kids plateaued as freshmen/sophomores. He started losing too many recruits so he offers earlier now but we’ve seen what happens with some highly ranked players that have peaked early

I agree and the local HS stats mean very little also. Examples of that would be A. Patterson and DeBerry. For many of these high potential kids their lack of winter competition gives them very little college prep. Playing half a game against kids 3-4 inches shorter and slower doesn’t push them. Coaches place much more emphasis on seeing them in person against the more challenging summer competition to gauge if they’re making improvements to their fundamental games and shooting. That’s how to identify the motivated workers. Hassell is a very nice prospect but she has a lot of fundamental work ahead of her. Auriemma’s concerns about plateauing are justified and he does have to roll the dice early more often now.
