Appalachian to Sun Belt (?)

See ... the Appalachian State Mountaineers got rejected by C-USA.

This is the last train out. In a few years, moving FCS to the FBS will be prohibitively hard. Simply might need to form a brand new conference. AND NOTE ... many, many of the new Programs are all in the same basic geography: Carolinas, VA, Alabama, Texas. Other than UMass (who I believe are going to be stuck in the MAC til they prove they can draw 20,000), there won't really be much movement. Sure ... I bet Stony Brook would love to move on up within the decade. I don't think it's feasible.

Which brings me to my favorite BE moment: Upgrade Villanova?

You don't go to the State Board to ask for permission unless an invite is coming.

Good for them. I felt bad for them (and NMSU) with the way that conference realignment absolutely left them in the cold, as well as the Mountain West and their fellow "brothers" in Boise. If they can make a go of it in the SunBelt, then more power to the Vandals. For what it's worth, their fans were classy at the women's tourney game on Saturday...

"If the Sun Belt champion finishes as the highest rated team among the so-called Group of Five (along with Conference USA, new Big East, Mountain West and MAC) it will get a berth in one of the new playoff bowls beginning in 2014."

Oh no. Who will Waylon's independent Huskies play in the future.
