AP Top 25 Week 12: UConn still Unanimous

.-.
UCONN has beaten the #7 (Louisville), #8 (Iowa), #9 (Michigan State), & #11 (Ohio State) teams this season.
I believe that you meant #9 Michigan not Michigan State. 😉

I saw the Vanderbilt vs. S.C. game yesterday and to be honest, Vanderbilt didn't look that good. Other than Michigan, they really haven't played anyone. It showed against S.C.

I wouldn't be surprised if the National Championship game is a rematch from last year.

Uconn vs. S.C.

I will be surprised if that happens based upon how we have played this far. We have played poorly at times including that disastrous OT against Oklahoma. Our defense shows flashes of excellence but is inconsistent. Such flashes on offense are rare.

I’m afraid we will get knocked out in the Elite 8 though we could possibly improve by then. Our road game at LSU is scary - especially if Fulwiley keeps her emotions under control.

Granted, it is unlikely that SC will shoot that well again, even at home, but if they can repeat the defense they showed against Vandy and the ability to switch bigs in and out as needed they must be considered at least a FF contender, if not in the NC.

So now LSU (#5 when Vandy beat them) is a nobody?

To me, the issue is more of playing at home vs on the road. Vandy beat LSU at home, looked lousy playing at S.C. S.C lost to Oklahoma on the road, kicked Vandy's butt at home. And S.C. lost to Texas in neutral site Las Vegas, won at home. Let's wait and see how S.C. does when it has to play #6 LSU on the road.

One comment I often hear/read when the "UConn plays a weak schedule" narrative is pushed, despite UConn beating 4 of the top 11 teams (3 of them handily), is "yeah, but they haven't played any elite teams like UCLA, South Carolina, or Texas".

So in addition to having an upcoming game against #15 Tennessee this weekend, Tennessee is currently in first place in the SEC:

The SEC is usually the consensus "toughest conference" (especially now with 10 teams ranked). So a win Sunday would not only give UConn a win against another top 15 team, but it would come against the current first place team in what most consider the toughest conference.

TN, currently undefeated in the SEC due to a soft opening schedule, is unlikely to finish in the top 3 in that conference. They could finish as high as fourth and as low as sixth.
